Former Chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okwesilieze Nwodo, has reacted to the rumoured planned defection of former President Goodluck Jonathan to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
During an appearance on Arise News on Monday, Nwodo dismissed the alleged plans by Jonathan to dump the PDP for the APC.
The former Enugu governor said that joining the APC will spell doom for the former President, considering his achievements and good records in politics.
Nwodo claimed that the former President will lose what is left of his integrity and reputation if he joins the APC ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
According to Nwodo, no group of people have been so determined in destroying Jonathan’s personality and his presidency than the APC.
The former PDP chairman added that Jonathan should not think he can reverse the pit into which Nigeria has fallen by joining the APC.
Bibian Anekwe News reports that the media has continued to be filled with reports that the former president is planning to dump the PDP which he used to ride to power for the ruling APC.
According to some reports, APC governors are backing Jonathan to take over from Buhari in other to kill the presidential ambition of the National Leader of the party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
A chieftain of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, Olusegun Bamgbose, had claimed recently that Jonathan has concluded plans to join the ruling party.
He claimed that the APC is doing all it can to retain power in 2023 despite the poor performance of the administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Bamgbose disclosed that Jonathan is expected to join the ruling APC before January 2022 with a governor and a senator.
According to him, Senator Stella Oduah joined the party recently in preparation for Jonathan to equally decamp.
The lawyer said APC has offered its presidential ticket to Jonathan and the former president has agreed in principle to cross over to the APC.
