The statement credited to the Presidency that President Muhammadu Buhari will assent to the revised Electoral Act Amendment Bill in a matter of hours has stirred reactions online.
Bibian Anekwe News earlier reported that Presidential Spokesman, Femi Adesina, had said his principal will sign the reworked document within the next 30 days.

Speaking on Tuesday during an interview on Sunrise Daily, a programme on Channels Television, Adesina asked Nigerians to exercise patience and wait for the President to sign the bill.

He said: “He (Buhari) will sign it (the bill) any moment from now,”
It could be today, it could be tomorrow, it could be anytime, but within the 30 days.”

Following the statement made by the presidential media aide, Nigerians have taken to social to berate the President for taking Nigerians for granted.

They asked President Buhari to immediately assent to the electoral bill in order to assure Nigerians that he means well for the country and its electoral process.

@IkengaDavid wrote: “Whether the president signs the electoral bill or not Nigeria will move on, it will be to his own honour if he signs it.”
@PrinceFromArewa wrote: “Hours in APC government means a whole lot more than one could imagine…

“It might even translate to not signing it at all.”

@NsimaPeter wrote: “It’s always a waste of time when u interview this Adesina guy and it’s depressing to hear him talk like this.”
