International Women’s Day: Women Are Not Where They Should Be – Buhari

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has on the occasion of the 2022 International Women’s Day, commended women all over the globe for their irreplaceable roles.
The President in a statement on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said women are not where they should be but that would be totally corrected soon, urging the womenfolk not to give up.

Bibian Anekwe News reports that the theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow’ and has the hashtag #BreakTheBias.

President Buhari pointed out that women are taking up more roles in shaping the world and proving they can hold their own in all spheres and endeavours of life.
Particularly, the Nigerian leader praised the women in his administration for their roles and efforts before praying generally for God to grant all women peace, joy, and satisfaction.

The full statement reads: “President Muhammadu Buhari extols Nigerian women on the occasion of International Women’s Day, March 8, 2022.
The celebration, under the hashtag #Break the Bias, and the theme; Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow, the President says, is an opportunity to reflect on the vital roles women play in society, homes, governance, the professions, and in all walks of life.

“President Buhari observes that women are not where they should be yet in different spheres of endeavor, but believes that they can no longer be deprived for too long, as they consistently prove that they can hold their own on all fronts, and in all fields.

“He applauds the contributions of women to the current administration as Ministers, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Executive Directors, Executive Secretaries, and many others, noting that they are pulling their weights, and making it impossible for anyone to downplay their essence.

“The President rejoices with women and mothers, around whom the tranquility of homes and society revolves, praying God to grant them peace, joy and satisfaction, as they celebrate today and always.”
