As we diligently and hopefully almost with frenzied heartbeat prepare to buzz into the ante room to deliver the significant pregnancy of the 2023 Nigeria general elections in Enugu State in particular, every patriotic citizen of Enugu State who is certainly armed with his or her permanent voter’s card (PVC) and willing to exercise his or her franchise does not need to be reminded that the contest for the governorship position in the Coal City State is compellingly between Dr. Peter Mba of the People’s Democratic Party and others. This is more like the popular catch phrase of the Mercedes company whose brand of vehicle have more premium value prompting its management to see Mercedes cars as coming first before other brands of vehicles. Barrister Peter Ndubusi Mbah is clearly ahead of other candidates laying legitimate claim to Enugu Lion Building.
It was Plato, one of the greatest philosophers on planet earth that once posited that “good people don’t need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws” and all the momentous electioneering undertakings and ventures marking the ongoing campaigns for different positions in Enugu State are quite symbolic of glaring reality : that the battle line has literally been drawn between Dr Peter Mba’s crew of the People’s Democratic Party and others as millions of the good people of Enugu State alongside major political leaders and opinion influencers continue to drum support for the brain box behind the very successful Pinnacle Oil And Gas, Dr. Peter Mba and his enviable assembly of technocrats. This organic support sure reflects the timeless definition of leadership by the Classical General Montgomery as “the capacity and the will to rally men and women to a common purpose and the character which inspires confidence.”
And since the about the twelve registered political parties in Nigeria participating in the forthcoming 2023 general elections in Enugu State along with their stakeholders have all come together to endorse Dr Peter Mba and his unique associates, it becomes very incumbent on every rational electorate in Enugu State to toe the line of wisdom and join the winning team by standing firmly with Dr. Peter Mba in this epic adventure of political leadership as he takes over the onerous task of leading the good people of Enugu State from the indefatigable and the people – oriented governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi who would be returning to the Upper Chamber to represent the people of Enugu North Senatorial District in through the same 2023 General elections.
Therefore, with a very deep and symbolic understanding and conviction that the race for the governorship position in Enugu State remains between Dr. Peter Mba and others, I am happy to echoe the scriptural injunction in the book of Proverbs 29:18 that “where there is no vision, the people perish” and take joy that Dr. Peter Mba will certainly be the proverbial “leader ” referred by the intellectual Napoleon Bonaparte as “… a dealer in hope.”
