Time they say waits for no body. Time appears to be the only inanimate thing which never stops to blink. Its continual ticking makes it an object to be valued by all and sundry. Setting a mileage or a target to be covered in a given period of time by individuals and organizations makes the character of time a more compelling companion. Time guides and defines our very essence of being. The thrust of this article however is not about time, yet it is essential to establish a linkage between what we intend to achieve, how we intend to do that and when.
On the 29th day of May, 2023 and while mounting the podium to take the oath of allegiance and office as the new Governor of Enugu State, Barrister Peter Ndubuisi Mbah reeled out list of implementable projects his administration will actualize within a given time frame. While on campaign tour preparatory to the gubernatorial election that later produced him, Dr. Peter Mba had equally articulated his governance charter to the people of the state if elected. The issues of portable water has become a recurring decimal that appears to remove the shine off successive administration in the state and this, Governor Mbah did not waste time to reaffirm his commitment to reversing the ugly trend of perennial water scarcity within his 180 days in office.
It is therefore heart warming to observe Governor Mbah as a leader who premised the focus of his administration on the essence of time is not just for “show” but in reality. Governor Mbah not wanting to be placed side by side by the posturing of many politicians who mouthed empty, yet unfulfilled promises have since set down to work despite the distractions of the ongoing election petition in court.
Already 90 days out of the 180 days Governor Mba promised Ndi Enugu to end once for all the perennial water scarcity in the metropolis have gone, interestingly he has already sunk over 18 boreholes with high pressure and has rehabilitated many of the existing water reservoirs to affirm that his promise is not a fluke. Aside the functioning facilities in place, more pressured pipes have been procured also to aid water reticulation to all nooks and crannies across the metropolis and environs.
Governor Mbah’s efforts so far in this regard was prefaced by the assemblage of foreign and local technical partners who ensured and has continued to ensure that governor Mbah’s promise is not an empty one.

The ministry of water resources is equally and currently repairing and replacing all bad water pipes in Enugu metropolis. This will be concluded in less than two months. Once this is done, then Enugu will have steady water again.

It is interesting also to note that Gov. Mbah is putting plans in place to ensure that Ndi Enugu does not abuse these government efforts. While government provides portable water to the citizens, it is important to curb wastage on the part of the citizens by putting up measures that will discourage such. This is where the metering of every household connected to the public water supply to ensure that government investments are protected and usage controlled is a welcome development.

Thank you Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for remaining focused in your governance agenda.
