In the political configuration of every society, politicians are given the opportunity to campaign within some intervals; during which they employ so many schemes and intrigues in order to sway the masses or in some cases the “stakeholders” towards endorsing their credibility. This is certainly necessary as we know that nobody is perfect and in politics it is a strategy for a politician or a leader and his group of supporters to market their candidacy. And in trying to impress the potential supporters, just like in every advertising event, it is only the positive aspects of a candidate that are presented before the public, however, the real character challenge comes into play when such politician is eventually given the chance to lead. That is when the people can actually assess the genuineness or otherwise of the person’s intentions.
So, during every electioneering season, it is expected that everyone justling for a leadership position employs every winning idea or tactics at his disposal to enjoy a massive endorsement among the people he intends to lead and I have even heard from some quarters that when it becomes impossible to convince the people, it becomes inevitable to confuse them. That notwithstanding, the people are presented with the ample opportunities to properly mirror the character of a leader during his reign. That is when they can determine whether he is the one who can actually WALK THE TALK or do otherwise.
It is in view of the above-drafted position that I wish to preoccupy the salience of this write up with the characterisation of His Excellency, Rt Hon. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi(MR FULFILMENT) the Executive Governor of Enugu State as he continues to bulldoze through the political terrain of his people.
One character trait that even his political rivals would agree to be stubbornly sticking to Governor Ugwuanyi’s personality is generosity which seems to be fueling other virtuous traits in him that have continued to amplify his popularity amongst his equals and of course he has consciously and unconsciously used his magnanimity to disarm his opponents consistently without any slight of regret. Gburugburu must have learnt earlier in life that for one to succeed in life, he ought to have something precious to offer and he has never undermined the efficiency of that philosophical grounding.
When Gburugburu was promising to award free education to indigent and underprivileged students , he was sure he would implement it as testified by the National Association of Nigerian Law Students which awarded him as one of the most educational-friendly governor in Nigeria for implementing scholarship schemes for two hundred and forty-six Law Students from Enugu State.
When Gburugburu was promising to fast-tract development in the state’s rural areas, he had serious plans on how to construct more than six hundred kilometres of roads linking our rural areas with the urban within a short while of ascending the leadership of Enugu State. Gburugburu was conscious that he would reconstruct so many hospitals and health centres in the seventeen local government areas that make up the state.
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi( MR FULFILMENT) did not mince his words neither did he intend to deceive the good people of Enugu State when he declared that he would prioritise security and today religious leaders, youths and elders of Igbo extraction have not felt ashamed of pointing out that ENUGU STATE is one of the most peaceful states and in fact the most secured states in Nigeria and today Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi( MR FULFILMENT) has become a recepient of several peace awards from so many organisations for his unprecedented contribution to bring about peace and harmony in Enugu State and its neighbourhoods.
As Gburugburu campaigned vigorously with the improvement of the workers’ welfare as a solid campaign key point, he was determined to exhaust his options to impress the state workers by initiating 13th month salary scheme, timely pay their minimum wage without owing the pensioners and by so doing has passed as a workers-friendly governor.
For making Enugu State one of the six most economically viable states in Nigeria, Governor Ugwuanyi( MR FULFILMENT)has proven his mettle in effective management of state resources for optimum results and to create employment opportunities in the state, Gburugburu took measurements that revived the Small Medium Enterprises that brought about self-development and self-empowerment, at the same time succeeding in making Enugu State an investment friendly state including fresh massive recruitments across all the ministries and any one with counter narrative should not hesitate to bring it forward.
When we neutraly consider that Governor Ugwuanyi( MR FULFILMENT) has invested billions of naira to improve the status of our state education institutions we will understand why some people believe that Gburugburu is not just a development-driven and people-oriented governor but call him MR. FULFILLMENT and for that I make bold to assert that His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Executive Governor of Enugu State is a man who WALKS THE TALK.
