With a rapt awareness that the revered ubuntu African philosophical concept is one of the major principles that drive the leadership machine of the able governor of ENUGU State, I wish to once again assert my affirmation of the rare impacts and imprints of Gburu Gburu; the able governor of the state as he continues to keep the candle burning at the same time keeping the ball rolling. Navigating through the sea of troubles besieging our state, Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi through the recent award of scholarship to 246 law students from ENUGU State shows that he is truly bent on troubling our troubles and changing the narrative.
By releasing the huge sum of#26.6 million naira to the Enugu State Scholarship and Education Loans Board (ESSELB) for onward disbursement as bursary which translates to at least #100,000 for each of the beneficiaries including the logistics, I believe the governor has demonstrated his commitment, passion and predilection for not just ameliorating our conditions but to optimise human resources development in our dear state. As disclosed by the Executive Secretary of the Board , Barr. Levis Uche Abonyi, all applications are to be submitted online through the Board’s website, www.esselb.en.ng.
For the avoidance of doubt, it is essential to affirm the positive significances of this act of humanity underpinning the scholarship program as sponsored by the rare gem: Gburu Gburu. Firstly, understanding that the rising costs of tuition fees constitute one of the major impediments to the ability of our students to graduate on time from our educational institutions, such display of love cannot be less appreciated. It is not a news that most of our students at higher institutions that fall within the range of low-income students are surviving through work-study programs that is directly or indirectly proportional to their low and average performance in grades, providing such timely incentive to our prospective lawyers would certainly motivate and inspire them to focus more on their studies rather than engaging in menial jobs that would eventually amount to distractions.
In the same vein, it is true that to whom much is given, much is expected and benefiting from such a state sponsored scholarship program will CETERIS PARIBUS encourage the beneficiaries to inculcate the the habit of philanthropy if eventually they make it in life because they won’t forget the essence of giving back to the society. By ensuring that some of our potential law adjudicators receive some assistance to augment their financial resources, Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi has not just helped their sponsors but has proven that he has some special respect for the last hope of the common man which is the judiciary. We all know that peace will always elude any society where there is no justice and I understand that where there are intelligent lawyers with sense of integrity that injustice will not find a fertile ground to grow. To me, Gburu Gburu has enacted another aspect of ubuntuism through this project without hitting below the belt at same time putting his shoulder to the wheel to put smile on our faces and I wish to make a clean breast of this milestone in a nutshell by admitting that the emergence of Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as the executive governor of ENUGU State is not a case of putting the cart before the horse as he continues to paddle our canoe by leaps and bounds.
As a person who is not used to flying off at a tangent, permit me this opportunity to proclaim that His Excellency, Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi, the executive governor of ENUGU State is truly a leader with UBUNTU. Thanks and God bless you.
