President Muhammadu Buhari has been asked to fire the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.

Bibian Anekwe News reports that the Justice Ayo Salami panel made the recommendation to President Buhari on Friday.

The Salami panel which asked the president to appoint the new EFCC chairman in an interim position for two years also asked Buhari to look outside the police force in appointing the next chairman.

This online news platform reports that Buhari received Justice Ayo Salami-led probe panel report at a ceremony in the State House in Abuja.

Justice Salami handed boxes of documents, believed to be volumes of the report to the President.

This will be coming after President Buhari had in July, inaugurated the panel and gave 45 days to carry out the assignment but the time frame was extended further after the panel requested more time.

The suspended EFCC Charman Magu was accused of corruption and abuse of office by Abubakar Malami, the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice but he has pleaded not guilty to the accusations.
