The governing council of the Federal University Lokoja on Friday, December 18, 2020, announced the appointment the institution’s new vice-chancellor.
Bibian Anekwe News reports that Prof. Olayemi Durotimi Akinwumi‘s appointment was announced today and will take over from Angella Miri whose retirement time is due.
Akinwumi who happens to be the current deputy vice-chancellor of the institution is said to be a professor of History from Nasarawa State University.
Bibian Anekwe News recalls that a medical doctor with the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital was abducted by some unidentified gunmen on the noon of Thursday, December 10.
It was reported that Dr. Vincent Uhegbu Maduka was kidnapped at about 9 pm while resting at his apartment at Eta Agbo layout in Calabar.
Speaking on the incident, the state chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr Innocent Abang, said resident doctors have resolved to an indefinite strike to demand the release of the Consultant Cardiologist.
