Education is one sector that should be at the heart of any serious government. It is the sector that drives every other sector. Perhaps the basic difference between two individuals lies in the knowledge base and acumen of both individuals. This sector impacts knowledge to people to make them better individuals which is ultimately utilized for the socio-economic growth of the society. There is therefore no gain saying the fact that Gov Ugwuanyi have made a significant improvement on what he met on ground in the education sector of Enugu state since he assumed power as the Chief Executive six years ago. The primary school education system have had tremendous face lift and rehabilitation of the existing ones as well as the construction of new ones. About 500 class room blocks in the primary school system have been built under Governor Ugwuanyi’s administration. Some of the schools which received Mr. Fulfilment’s blessings include but not limited to Independence layout primary school Enugu, Community primary Schools in Uroshi, Igbelle, Amachalla, Uda, Imilike- enu, Igugu, Eha-alumona, Opi etc. There have been also continuous recruitment of primary school teachers to cater for the new constructed schools and to beef up the capacity of the existing ones. In 2016/2017 over 1000 school teachers were recruited. In 2019 another 1000 teachers were recruited.
The scenario is not different also at the post primary school level. The massive transformation at this level led to a phenomenal recruitment of the secondary school teachers in 2019.
At the tertiary level, Gburu-Gburu’s foot prints is too bold to be hidden. In Enugu State College of Education Technical (ESCET), there have been massive infrastructural development. The school have been expanded and updated too. At state polytechnic Iwollo, it’s been cheering news all the way. There was massive recruitment in that school in 2018/2019.
This government has gone ahead to attract Federal Polytechnic at Ohodo Igbo-etiti LGA. Ikeaka Girls Secondary is undergoing massive transformation and may likely be upgraded to college of education. Another university college of education is coming up at Ihe-Awgu in Agwu LGA and an approval for this have already been secured, while yet another college of education is under construction at Ezim in Udenu LGA. The school of health technology in Oji River is not left out. All these have resulted in massive employment and staff training in the sector. The tertiary institutions at Ohodo, Ihe, Ezim and possibly Iheaka will not only create jobs, it will also open up these places. Markets, hospitals, estates, other schools will soon spring up in these areas. These projects will attract good road networks, electricity, pipe borne water, good security network etc. ESUT, IMT other higher institutions in the state have got desired attention from the state government. The school of health technology in Oji River is not left out.
Governor Ugwuanyi’s foot print in educational sector is really bold. Enugu state is lucky to have you as their Governor. Enugu state is really in the of God.
