The sacked media aide to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, Salihu Yakasai, has called for an end to open grazing in Nigeria.

In a post on his Twitter handle on Tuesday Yakasai, who was arrested by the DSS, said open grazing is no longer attainable and should be stopped.

He stated this while reacting to a video on social media that shows a woman in Ogun State lamenting as cows grazed on a vegetable farm while the herders watched.

Yakasai wrote, “This is totally unacceptable and stands condemned. Open grazing is no longer attainable and should be stopped immediately. This is the root cause of the farmers/herders crises in this country & only God knows what it will lead to if allowed to continue. This should be BANNED!”

Meanwhile, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has reacted to the assassination attempt on his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom.

Recall that armed herdsmen attacked the governor’s convoy while on a visit to a farm on Saturday at Tyo Mu community along Makurdi-Gboko road.

While speaking with newsmen after the incident, Ortom narrated that the gunmen, numbering about 15, trailed him and his team to a riverbank when he was on foot before launching the attack.

However, a shadowy group, the Fulani Nationality Movement has claimed responsibility for the attack on the Benue governor.

Speaking with State House correspondents in Abuja on Monday after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, Ganduje condemned the attack on the governor.

He expressed worry that criminals could lay siege to a governor, wondering what the fate of the ordinary citizen, who does not enjoy the sort of security protection of governors.
