SETTING THE SHAMELESS RUMOR AGAINST GOVERNOR IFEANYI UGWUANYI STRAIGHT
An Igbo proverb has it thus: “O chu nwa-okuko nwe ada, nwa-okuko nwe nwe-nwe oso” (he who pursues the chick has a fall while the chick runs dexterously unharmed). Not too long ago some unnerving news trended on some social media channels to the effect that His Excellency, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi, the Executive Governor of Enugu whose large heart and tremendous good works anchored on peace, security, rural and urban uniform development, women and youth empowerment, timely payment of workers and appointees salaries, has endeared him to many a Nigerian called the President of the federal republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari at the peak of the unfortunate Uzo-Uwani herdsmen attack on the hapless farmers at Nimbo and was kept waiting on the phone for hours.
Diabolic as the insinuation by these agents of disharmony seems, Governor Ugwuanyi we know is a personable character who means well for his people. He is a leader who leads from the front and not given to frivolity. Perhaps, what is more worrisome is why these merchants of hate will choose to unearth an unfortunate incident which bridled our sad past during the first term of the peaceful governor six years after? What is their intention? What do they hope to achieve? Must everything around a political leader be reduced to irresponsible politics of hate and smear campaign. Thankfully, governor Ugwuanyi is a firm believer in God Almighty. He cannot be smeared by any political detractors no matter how powerful. God remains a defender of the just which Ugwuanyi embodies.
Interestingly, notable people has been vociferous in the condemnation of the diabolic fake news about the global Gburu-Gburu. Almost immediately after reading the viral fake news item, the former minister of Aviation in President Goodluck’s administration and Social critic par excellence, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode came out to debunk the fake news in no uncertain terms. Hear him “I just spoke with my friend & brother Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state & I can confirm that the statement that was attributed to him on social media this morning which is making the rounds is FAKE. He did not have any conversation with Presidency officials on the phone & Ugwuanyi is one of the few Governors and leaders that we have in this country today that is a profoundly good man… ”
Chief Femi kani Kayode decried the attitude of fake people who are bent on demeaning a personable character like Ugwuanyi and tagged the merchants of hate as simply despicable.
Perhaps, the permutations for 2023 might be part of the reason for these agents of hate to unleash their devilish machinations on a “profoundly good man”. But again, who God has blessed, no one can curse. Their antics and shenanigans, whatever they are must not rise above dust.
Whatever God has designed for Ugwuanyi, he will surely become. He is a God who knows everyone’s end from our beginning. But, like I said at the beginning of this article, though, they shall gather against the Lord’s anointed, but if their gathering is not of the Lord, they shall scatter and gnash their teeth in regrets.
Of course, the peddlers of this fake news are perturbed by the outstanding good works of Gov Ugwuanyi and his profound leadership skills which marks him out as a valid presidency material. Therefore, we must stop him in his tracks. We must distract him lest his zest flies up, they seem to be conspiring. But Governor Ugwuanyi is like the proverbial ‘Akidi’ (the famed Igbo root crop that does not confine itself to the bounds of the soil where it is planted). That is why he earned the sobriquet Gburu-Gburu. Gov Ifeanyichukwu Lawrence Ugwuanyi is like water which can quench everyone’s thirst irrespective of social cum political differences, he brooks no enemies.
I would like to conclude with the following Biblical Quotes: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink. If you do this, you will make him feel guilty and ashamed.” Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil with good (Romans 12:20-21). In Enugu state, Governor Ugwuanyi has not only fed his enemies, the man of peace has fed, clothed and even selflessly empowered his own enemies.
To the People’s Govermor, Your Excellency Sir,( Mr Fulfilment) “The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” (Exodus 14:14). “You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the LORD on your behalf… Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, and the LORD will be with you.” (2 Chronicles 20:17). “No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD and their vindication from me, declares the LORD” (Isaiah 54:17).
God bless all the supporters of good governance of Governor Ugwuanyi across the globe. May God keep keeping you and yours. May your efforts not be treated with disdain by same folks you struggle to set their life aright.
