As crime wave soars exponentially Nationwide with the gravest assault emanating from the terror herdsmen and the ongoing enlistment into the nefarious human carnage by faceless arms-toting hefty men, with the former’s irresistible impulse in sacking homes and farmlands of their host communities, there is no question that we may not extricate ourselves from looming food crisis. Of course, even a day old infant feels the sky pointing cost at which common cash crops are obtainable from the markets. Imagine African cassava flake (garri) the life wire of Nigerian students now a commodity of the swollen pockets.

What quakers the thinking cap of few patriots is the tardiness and insensitivity accorded these elements plunging us into avoidable famine and poverty despite our strained efforts to trudge back to a better economic status after successive recession affliction. More worrisome is that only a few State across the country appears to decipher the eminent penury and vices of greater scale that might befall us all. In a ravaged and fragile economy like ours, one would expects the government at the center to rise the occasion by charting a new course for her citizens on improving the economy from whatever angle rather than usual overdependence on oil plundering- a mono-economic system that many countries have long drifted away from.

It’s however laudable that Enugu State Government in the face of meagre state coffers and wide Civil unrest thinks on how to better her lots by coming up with such beneficial loan scheme to virtually every Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Through the Enugu SME Micro Credit Loan Program of the Enugu SME Center, entrepreneurs or small businesses can access between N50,000 to N300,000 cash loan to every Enugu citizen who manages business or endeavor of any kind is just but a modicum of Governor Ugwuanyi delivery on his campaign promises. Mr Fulfilment (Ugwuanyi) no doubt has leveraged largely on his Business marketing academic pedigree to improve the economy of the state.

The Enugu SME Micro Credit Loan Program is incontesably surefire and pillars of socio-economic improvement. It offers a second chance to the army of forlorn employees, haul off ghetto lords from streets and consequently reduces crime rate.
In fact, a report has it that economic growth of some Asian countries such as Japan, Taiwan and Korea is directly proportional to the spurt in SME activities. The significant roles it play in an economy can never be overstated. What also inspires more of citizen patronage of this kind of initiative is the drastic cut in the interest rate unlike the rather unconscionable interest rate conditions and scramble collateral(security) associated with regular finance institutions.

The Governor’s Special Adviser on SME Development and the Head, Enugu SME Center, Hon Arinze Chilo-Offiah who can only be described best as a product of merit appointment for his understanding of MSME matters, assured 0.75% monthly interest (9% a year) one month moratorium and twelve (12) months tenor for every beneficiary. Testimonies are already abounds from beneficiaries who entertained no turnpike in meeting with the requirements for the loan and how the invested loan is paying off. Hopes are that much of these beneficiaries invest same in agriculture to boost agricultural revolution crusade of Governor Ugwuanyi and also meeting the food needs of Enugu people.

To apply go to www.enugusme.en.gov.ng/microloans or go to the Enugu SME Center located at No. 2a Market Garden Avenue Opposite SME Roundabout along Ebeano Tunnel GRA Enugu.
