Thursday, September 3rd, 2020 will go down in the history of Enugu State Government as the day a group of respected leaders of thought emerging from traditional institutions, religious bodies and significantly the apex body of Igbo socio-cultural organisation; Ohaneze Ndigbo after a well deliberated consideration found it worthy to pass vote of confidence on the person of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his impeccable involvement in solving the security challenges in the state.
Their resolution which was delivered by the President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo in Enugu was foregrounded on the governor’s consistent efforts in ensuring that peace and security is maintained in the state through several mobilization and equipment of the state’s security apparatus with modern and innovative gadgets.
Chief Nnia Nwodo while addressing the press after the meeting explained that after dwelling on the outcome of the State Security Council meeting recently hosted by the state government, that those leaders of thought in attendance decided to pass their vote of confidence on Gburu Gburu for his relentless penchant to resolve the civil disturbances and assured everyone that the culprits will be brought to book. Chief Nnia Nwodo who applauded the governor further for signing into law the Forest Guard Act,2020 as enacted by the State House of Assembly disclosed that the governor had earlier directed all the local government councils chairmen in the state to consult with the traditional rulers and president-generals of different communities to”…rejig the security architectures “of the state, doing the needful to stem the tide of the unbecoming activities of some of the herdsmen as reported in some localities.
The President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, further justified their decision to appreciate the governor due to his fantastic management of the state’s economy that resulted in Enugu state emerging as one of the six most economically viable states in Nigeria that have the chances of surviving even without the much touted Federal Allocation. He then submitted that ” If Enugu State Government can attract business men to come and invest and pay taxes, then Enugu must be investment friendly. To be investment friendly, Enugu must be safe and this credit goes to the state governor and his team.”
Chief Nnia Nwodo finally concluded by assuring everyone that having seen the governor’s responsible leadership style and strategies, the state leaders of thought have no other option than to throw their weight behind him to ensure that he continues his good work by making sure that Enugu state remains one of the safest states in Nigeria.
