The Executive governor of Enugu state, Rt Honorable Ifeanyichukwu Lawrence Ugwuanyi would forever be remembered as a quintessential Democrat and an egalitarian par excellence. His strategic policies to ensure equal rights of all citizens irrespective of religious or political affiliations is second to none. The manifestation of his true psychological make up bears eloquent testimony to the peace and tranquility that has pervaded the entire length and breath in all the seventeen local government areas of Enugu State. The usual disquiet which more often than not pervaded the entire state back in the days before his assumption of power could said to have slipped into oblivion courtesy of his management style to accommodate all shades of opinion in the governance of the state. Governor Ugwuanyi must be credited for eternally waving the olive branch to political opponents and practically demonstrating same to ensure that peace and accelerated economic growth thrives in the state.
Perhaps, Enugu State unarguably remains one of the states in Nigeria where opposition is virtually non existent. Governor Ugwuanyi, our own Gburu-Gburu is a true adroit!
Again our Governor must be commended for his absolute knack for excellence in governance objectives. By shopping and installing the right kind of high-quality personnel and technocrats in his government, Enugu State has been having it so good in her developmental trajectories.
His more than wisdomic handling of many competing interests in governance marks him out as a peaceful personae as well as a political juggernaut. Ugwuanyi believes in the success of his people and with deep sense of responsibility has expanded the frontier of job and wealth creation through the establishment of a sustainable SMEs and the grooming of future leaders.
As an open minded leader, he has dutifully followed the injunctions of the Good Book which admonished that we should never rely on our own understanding or strength but our trust in God. It is therefore not surprising that governor Ugwuanyi has consistently allowed cross-pollination of ideas from his cabinet and other stakeholders to determine the best for Ndi Enugu. Despite the lean resources at the disposal of his government, Governor Ugwuanyi has never allowed this to either dampen his moral to trudge on or slow down his enormous developmental strides especially in the rural communities of the state.
As an egalitarian, governor Ugwuanyi has ensured through his policies of wealth creation that instant loans when needed are disbursed to deserving citizens at zero interest rates. One would be able to grow small businesses or fix a personal emergency with affordable collateral loans with no guarantor and still get cash back on interest paid once repaid on time. One would be able to unlock higher loan amounts with lower interest rates and still rewarded for keeping up with the end of the deal.
It is important to note that despite the many positive attributes of his Excellency, the governor of Enugu state, there still exists agents of mischief makers who would never see anything good in others. Our Governor must remain focused even in the face of the many distractions because as a popular Greek proverb says “Smooth seas never make a skillful Sailor” Enugu State continues to be in the hands of our Maker, God Almighty!
