Permit me to wax philosophical. There is this wide acclaimed truism in Igbo language – “Ifeoma adighi ako na mba” which literally would mean to suggest that good deeds are never in short supply from a country. Perhaps what is meant by a whole wide country or city could be interpreted to mean a good family, a good home or a good society. It is only poignant to state that one does not give what one does not have. A good society, family or home is as good as the goodness dispensed therefrom and vise versa. A good home or society is highly desirable and a toast of all.
While one might be tempted to scratch head in bewilderment as to the origin of good nature of Rt. Honorable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi or his entire family, it might be desirable to assert that God deposited in equal proportion inherent qualities driving each individual or home. Doing good or bad in a society through individuals are choices taken up by individual concerned. Though, there are inherently good parents, but one or more children of same parents might be providentially deviants. It is therefore heart warming that all the children of David Ugwuanyi family in Orba of Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State are true sons and daughters of their parents. I’m certain therefore that goodness runs hare wire in their kindred.
Prof. Uche Ugwuanyi, the younger brother of Rt. Honorable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Executive governor of Enugu state celebrated his 50th birth date anniversary today. Like the governor who celebrated his 57th natal date 2 months back, took to the space in and around Enugu to show appreciation to God Almighty for keeping him healthy and strong. Taking cue from the footsteps of his elder brother, the Governor, Prof.Uche Ugwuanyi went out visiting various motherless babies home and hospitals in Enugu. Some of the motherless babies home which benefited from the outreach of Professor Uche Ugwuanyi to mark his birth date include Nwannedinamba Guardian Angel motherless babies home led by Rev. Sis. Martina as matron, Mother of Christ motherless babies home led by Rev. Sis. Glory Ofojebe… Red Cross motherless babies home led by Chinyere Ogbonna (matron),
Little sister’s of the poor led by mother superior Sr. Ellen.
It is heart warming to observe that several items running into millions of Naira were distributed to the visited homes during this outing with the under privileged of the society. These items include several cartons of indomie, washing machines , several packets
of toilet Roll, water dispensers, gallons of groundnut and vegetable oil, several bags of 50kg rice, cartons of pampers, cartons of cleaning detergents, cartons of big baby soap, cartons of peak milk, cartons of wellness beverages, cartons of disinfectants and lots more. All these items were shared out to these lucky motherless babies homes by Prof. Uche Ugwuanyi and friends.
Not done with the outpouring of love to mark his birthday at the orphanage homes, Prof. Ugwuanyi and his friends also visited University teaching hospital and Parklane General hospital all in Enugu to offset the hospital bills of indigent patients also running into millions of Naira. They were received by Dr. Chinwe Authonia Chukwu ( Head of Nursing services and Director of Nursing U.N.T.H)
The patients who could not hold back their joy at the gesture of Prof.Uche Ugwuanyi prayed for God’s continued protection and blessing upon the Ugwuanyi family and the citizens of Enugu State in general.
The visibly jubilant patients sang songs of joy to the celebrant and his friends. It is important to note that about 40% of the patients have long been discharged but could not be allowed to leave the hospital premises because of outstanding hospital bills which most of them could not afford.
