Many a political analysts have overtime enthused that Leaders are made and not born. Perhaps, there is this certain assumption that leadership models can be learned either in a classroom situation or through mentoring by quintessential leaders. History is replete with outstanding men and women who did distinguish themselves in leadership positions. One might be tempted to ask from whom these classical or historical leaders of note learnt from?
Leaders such as Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr, Bonaparte Napoleon, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln to mention but these few leaders have all made their marks as uncommon leaders of men and resources and equally etched their names in golden times that one could devote a century to understudy what made these men tick. Try as we may, the point be passed is that there are high probability that these men and many unmentioned others which litter our clime have inborn qualities that catapulted them to leadership positions. In other words, they might have emerged as born leaders. Their roles afterwards have been majorly to provide insight, role modeling and inspiration to later day leaders.
Again, while one may be tempted to argue on the nexus between Gov. Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and such other world acclaimed leaders, it is important to assert that Ugwuanyi we know since assuming the leadership of the coal city state has been a good study in leadership. It may not matter again, if he ever learnt his modes or exhibiting inherent leadership qualities. Depending on which side of the divide one may find him or herself, Rt Honorable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has and is still making his marks as an uncommon leader of men and resources since he found himself at the helm of affairs of Enugu State.
It is important to reiterate that Ugwuanyi must have pre-positioned himself for leadership roles by asserting himself in the world of Insurance business, immersing himself in Charity works as a member of Rotary International and as a law maker of repute before ascending the Executive position in Enugu State. It is this same trajectories that have enabled him to look leadership in the face and took governance to an uncommon level.
An ordinary day CEO would normally have his to do lists crammed up with various and sundry engagements which takes away ample time to face more urgent matters. Unplanned and unforseen circumstances usually emerge that might throw one into a state of restiveness. Attending to these retinue of engagements and schedules might not be easy and would require utmost proactiveness and inner peace. These are important ingredients of a good leader to aid him or her in the identification of areas of risk and working on measures that will reduce their impact or stop the problems from happening altogether.
As the Governor and Chief Security Officer of the State, Gov.Ugwuanyi is satieted with enormous pressures of state engagements. He had overtime demonstrated that he is in firm control of State’s paddle, through his proactive responses to unwarranted situations. As a matter of fact, diligence and responsiveness to the welfare of Ndi Enugu, has become a flagship of Ugwuanyi’s administration in Enugu State.
A sudden fire outbreak which occurred on the late hours of 13th day of May 2021 at obollo-Afor office of the Independent National Electoral Commisson(INEC) in Udenu L.G.A of Enugu State which was reported to have been caused by a power spike in the building had Gov. Ugwuanyi rushing to the scene without much ado to have a first hand feel of the unfortunate incident. This is truly a hallmark of an uncommon leader.
When informed about the fire outbreak Ugwuanyi raced to the scene which is over 50 kilometers from the seat of the government in Enugu and unlike other Chief Executive Officers and political appointees, who would normally want to send delegate(s)to represent them, Gov.Ugwuanyi disregarded the ungodly hour and the security implication of such movement and went to see things for himself to access the situation.
Just as a child would understudy the character of his or her parents, those in the employ of Gov. Ugwuanyi are stewing in his responsive nature to leadership. It is no surprise that, the men of Enugu State Fire Service and other sister agencies quickly intervened and extinguished the raging fire in a record time.

Most of the incessant travels have not been to add to economic values of their states but for largely hubris. Such luxurious and abysmal wastage has never been reported of our amiable and responsible father who is indisputably known for his Abrahamic dispositions.
