BUILDING A CITY; WHAT IT TAKES

Seasoned historians would hoodwink us though right in some cases that it takes a good number of years if not millennium to build cities and nations. Much has been mouthed in defence of centuries American people grew and relapsed into degrees of civil and economic exigencies prior to her present status. From basket of experiences world over one can not pick fault with the academic grandstanding of this scholars given considerable force in their proposition. However, we have to be at one with the emerging realities of today’s supersonic industrialization and consequent globalization.

Since technology invaded human history, no developmental feat is too improbable to clutch by a people geared by unsated desire for changes in standard of living, general improvement and pursuit of happiness. In this wise, the traction engine becomes the political will of he who holds requisite state power to put it into judicious endeavors ensuring that the right thing be done at the appropriate time. Drawing from our today’s traumatized condition characterized by poor health care systems, dilapidated educational centres as well as gross nosedive of standard of living despite inundation of human and mineral resources boils down to absence of will to transform the society for the better. Nigerian Politicians (not leaders) delight in conservativism is nothing to script on even when stagflation sets in.

Asian countries are at the top of their destinies today, has no association with the decades or centuries of their leaps and bounds growth to what world class economy they have become but the collective will of the leader and the led in walking rhetorics into physical infrastructures and social securities we all thirst to have. And that is the case of Governor of Enugu State who has continued in reaching out to every rural areas in the state for community based projects. Few months ago, a Federal Government Polytechnic was sited in Ohodo, Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area overseen by the Governor. The jubilation and pomp raked by such Federal juicy peck is yet to settle while Ugwuanyi furthered the rain of goodies by delivering an asphalt road networks flanked by solar powered street lights within Ohodo suburbs connecting to the federal express way. One is put aback as to what the Governor intends to make out from Ohodo Igbo-Etiti, Lagos or Arizona. Absolutely the unceasing show of responsibility and efficiency in earmarking Ohodo’s share in Gburugburu’s administration comes handy at a time where the community has churned out in whooping numbers, Enugu State’s finest brains bestriding virtually all walks of life.
Definitely it demands only the will to move and use of power for the benefit of masses and no more. Reports even has it that Federal Technical Team from the Ministry of Education together with National Board of Technical Education in cooperative pursuit with Enugu State government has graced the site to ensure that all requirements are met and eventual kick off of academic activities come the month of October this year. The governor lives out his pen name(Mr. Fulfilment) never initiated a project and left it uncompleted.

No doubt Enugu State is in the hand of God.

BIBIAN ANEKWE NEWS .. ADDED.. Humility is the only true wisdom by which we prepare our minds for all the possible changes of life.
