Human capital development is regarded as a conscious investment to develop the human capacity base of the socio-political economy. Every society should drive it’s utmost growth in the level of capacity, knowledge and awareness of its teeming population. An attempt to neglect this important economic index have often spelt doom and economic downturn of the society. Most developed countries of the world today are occupying their niche courtesy of their investment in the human development of their citizens. A knowledge and technological driven economy is a sure way to rule a world. It is in recognition of this, that the youth friendly governor of Enugu state, Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has left no stone tumbling down to ensure that the youths of Enugu are better equipped for challenges of nation building.
He must therefore be commended for what many termed uncommon developments of the youths using Enugu SME Centre under the able leadership of a charming young man, Hon. Chilo-Offiah. The transformation of the youths under the SME Centre aimed at improving the lives and provision of job security for the teeming population that reinforces economic growth is second to none. Governor Ugwuanyi have matched rhetoric with action when he announced the berthing of his Youth O’clock government. Every move he had made ever since, have synced with his general objectives to lift Ndi Enugu from the shackles of poverty among her teeming citizens and to stimulate economic growth.
While many States are still figuring out how to contain the many issues of insecurity, general restiveness in the land, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi have been making more bolder statements to ensure that the youths of Enugu State are properly ingrained in capacity development and skills that will ensure that they face their future squarely and would be able to hold their own anywhere in the world. Such is the defining character of a 21st century people oriented leader.
At the last count, over 6000 youths in the state were offered free customer business registration under Corporate Affairs Commission and courtesy of Governor Ugwuanyi to stir them towards a business start up.
In the last few months, the Enugu SME centre have made steady progress in the Sensitization program it embarked upon to bring the message of self empowerment clearer to the teeming youths in the tertiary institutions. The amiable SPA on SME to the Governor, Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah has dusted every blue print to ensure that governor Ugwuanyi’s agenda in the area of empowerment of the people is fully stimulated and implemented.
