Not quite a few would have known that the Orba born consummate leader and politician Ifeanyichukwu Lawrence Ugwuanyi popularly Known as Gburu-Gburu obtained his first degree in Finance from the University of Nigeria Nsukka and his second degree in Marketing from the same University. He further acquired an MBA in Finance and Accountancy from the Enugu State Science and Technology.
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was also a member of the Federal House of Representative for a cumulative 12 years before he took over the mantle of leadership at the Lion Building, the seat of Enugu State Power House. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is also a good family man. A husband to a humble and smashing beauty, Lady Monica.
Perhaps, there are facts begging to be exposed about the personality of Ugwuanyi and his trajectories in governance of Enugu State. It might just interest you to know these.
¶ An Agent of Unification
Ugwuanyi is a true agent of stabilization. The manner and means he has United all shades of political opinion in Enugu State is bespeakable. While other states are grappling with the many issues of socio-political upheavals, Enugu State have largely maintained its peace and accommodated all people of different creed, faith and political inclinations. The crisis which erupted in the new Artisan market recently is still fresh in our memory. It was a dispute which attempted to stretch Ugwuanyi’s crisis resolution strategy. Governor Ugwuanyi showed leadership and mobilized actions and tactics that saw to the amicable resolution of the crisis to the admiration of his fans and the consternation of the political detractors.
¶ A Compassionate and Humane Leader:
Call him an angel in human form and you will not be wrong. Ugwuanyi has proven to be leader with a golden heart. Although caring for the downtrodden and the less privileged in the society shouldn’t be ordinarily counted as an extraordinary feat from a political leader, but not many leaders of Ugwuanyi’s contemporaries will be able to devote their time to visit motherless babies home and hospitals during their spare time or festive periods to take care of hospital bills of indigent patients and welfare of the vulnerable in the society. Yet, Ugwuanyi does this and more without an air about him. It is on record that governor Ugwuanyi has spent personal funds totalling over twenty seven million Naira to defray costs of hospital bills and welfare of indigent individuals in Enugu State in the last one year.
¶ A leader who walks his talks:
The perennial water scarcity in Enugu which seemed to have defied all logical tactics to tackle received Ugwuanyi’s special intervention when he promised to do all it will take to dislodge water scarcity once and for all. To make good this promise, his administration awarded contracts for the rehabilitation of abandoned water schemes and hired competent personnels to manage the water narrative.
¶ A man of few talks:
Gov. Ugwuanyi is a man given to few words. He allows his good works to speak for him. Above all, as a man of peace, he abhors violence and controversy of any kind. Belying his peaceful dispositions is a restless soul seeking for the next good thing to accomplish. His many visions for Ndi Enugu have taken a robust physical form before our very eyes.
¶ The HELIU:
This is an acronym for “His Excellency Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi” is the first smart Estate constructed by the Ugwuanyi led administration. It is located at New Independence Layout and financed by a group of private estate developers and a Chinese firm seen as a major step in the housing sector to provide housing for all in Enugu State.
¶ PDP new leader:
The PDP has adopted Ugwuanyi as the party new leader following the defection of Gov. David Umahi to APC on the 17th of November 2020. Ugwuanyi was unanimously adopted as the party’s new leader in SouthEast zone, largely because of his immeasurable contribution in the region.
¶ A firm Believer in God:
That governor Ugwuanyi is achieving and accomplishing much today is largely due to God’s guidance and grace. By placing Enugu state in God’s hands, he knew that as a mere mortal, only God’s will can make a great difference in the governance of the state. He has never failed to acknowledge this bountiful God’s will and has continued to glorify Him for taking charge in the affairs of the state. As a firm believer in God, he believes that the steps of a righteous man will always be ordered by God (psalm 38).
Enugu state is truly in the hands of God!
