The 5th of July, 2021 will go down in history as mammoth crowd gathered at Igbo-Eze council area stadium to witness the formal inauguration of a lawn tennis facility built by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi administration. The sports facility therefore is in furtherance of governor Ugwuanyi’s avowed stance to develop the rural communities as much as the city areas have received government attention in the past. Mounting the podium to swear to his oath of office in 2015, governor Ugwuanyi had listed rural development as one of his priorities while he occupies the government house while noting that developing the rural regions has a positive ripple effect to stem rural urban migration which is the major cause of population explosion in the cities. He therefore visualizes a state where what citizens would normally go out to seek out in the city would be provided for them in their communities. Aside stemming urban migration, development of the rural communities will further provide economic hub for the rural dwellers to contribute their quota to the GDP of the state and reduce over dependence on scarce white collar jobs from the government. It is worthy of note that six years down the road, governor Ifeanyichukwu Ugwuanyi has ensured that his vision in this regard is kept alive.
To further advance the course of rural development, governor Ugwuanyi observed the massive gap in the provision of available recreational facilities in the rural areas and decided it was about time something is done about it. The result of his thinking cap translated to the milestone recorded in the land of the Igbo-Eze North council area as a state of the art lawn tennis court was built inside the Council’s stadium at the headquarters in Ogrute. I’m certain that the journey has just started as other council areas would surely benefit in this regard in addition to other amenities that have been provided thus far across the 17 local government areas of the state.
It was the turn of his Excellency while inaugurating the project at Ogrute, to stress his deep concerns about the physical fitness and heathy living of all the people of Enugu state and expressed his optimism that the gradual provision of recreational and sporting facilities across the state, will go a long way to enhance the physical fitness of the people as it would also reduce the risk of several disease and ensure a general healthy living of the citizens of Enugu state.
The people of Enugu Ezike were all elated seeing the promises of the Governor to their area come to fruition. It is important to note that apart from the lawn tennis court built for the people of Igbo-Eze North LGA, other amenities provided by Governor Ugwuanyi led administration include municipal road networks and Amenity hospital whose project is still on going. Top government dignitaries and politicians from Igbo-Eze North stock who were present at the formal inauguration event chanted “EKWUEME” as a new sobriquet to his Excellency’s existing GBURUGBURU to register their sincere appreciation to a capacity leader who is carrying every section of the state along in his developmental trajectories.
It is however incumbent on the beneficiaries of the government’s social amenities to secure and maintain the facilities in their domain as this will go a long way to confirm that government’s efforts are not in vain after all. Igbo-Eze North council area inhabitants should take this as a priority. “Ka Chineke mezie okwu”. Let the will of God be done for ever and ever, Amen…
Enugu state is in the best hands, because God Almighty is involved in her affairs.
And Truly Enugu state is in the hands of God.
