Enugu State is unarguably one of the fastest developing State in Nigeria from all indications. Despite the lean resources available at the disposal of the current administration of Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, one is certainly bound to observe a government so passionate and eager to ensure that every single sector of the State economy is up and running for the good of the people. Another significant import of this character of Ugwuanyi’s administration is the conscious laying of the foundation and a necessary leeway to enable the incoming administration sail off without much encumbrances. One of the hallmarks of most leaders in government is to embark on elephant projects that might never be completed. These projects often came with the mortgaging of state’s lean resources that inadvertently put the state’s economy in perpetual quagmire. Governor Ugwuanyi is truly proving to be a different specie from the pack. Not only is he prioritizing and embarking on projects as if it is running out of fashion, he is also careful with the priority attached to each single project to ensure it’s completion so that it will never go the way of many abandoned projects so tagged with the previous administrations. It is important to stress also that one may never sight a single project initiated and uncompleted by previous administrations in the state that might not have been attended to with despatch since Rt. Honorable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi assumed office in 2015. Therefore it is highly unlikely that he will ever leave another abandoned project before he leaves office in less than 24 months from now.
Veteran Nollywood star, Pete Edochie while reminiscing on the good governance efforts of governor Ugwuanyi attributed his success to good management of scarce resources akin to what is done by a professional Economist. He emphatically declared that with the integrity that is on display in Ugwuanyi’s dispositions, he will complete whatever project he had embarked upon because he must have kept the money for such project through budgetary proposal and allocation.
It is equally important to note that the good governance experiences with Ugwuanyi’s administration did not start and end with the proliferation of impactful projects, the synergy existing amongst government extant MDAs to achieve all round results to realize government objectives to the people is highly commendable. The synergy has translated to the massive delivery of democratic dividends to the people. His rural-urban renewal initiative just got inflamed by the massive construction of the first ever Enugu flyover to decongest intractable traffic grid around Abakpa-Nike which is a major gateway to the metropolis from the northern zone of the state.
Further more, the administrative strategies and plans adopted by the administration to advance knowledge economy through digitalization of critical sectors in the State and transforming the State to becoming an ICT hub in Nigeria is yielding expected results. To contain the population explosion and create an enabling atmosphere where people from all walks of life can pursue their economic goals, governor Ugwuanyi is consciously establishing housing schemes that is not only affordable but one that is a esthetically finished with essential amenities for the inhabitants.
The good governance cluster of Gov. Ugwuanyi could not have been achieved in an atmosphere of rancor and insecurity. The realization of the importance of peace in societal development had propelled Ugwuanyi to seek and establish peace across the state. The result is the continued synergy between the people, the government and it’s policies. It is important to emphasize that to secure a buy-in of the people towards government policies appears to be the most important factor that ensures successful implementation of any such policy and processes. There is indeed excellent relations between the government and the people of Enugu State. The good relationship has ensured excellent booster to the policies of Dr. Ugwuanyi. The State will continue to grow from strength to strength only when we support and encourage the good governance initiative of the current administration through our excellent deeds as good citizens. Enugu state remains in the hands of God.
