Throughout history, leaders have emerged who made a difference in the transformation of their society through their intuition, uncommon courage and drive. These are leaders who truly inspired their people and earned the respect of their people because of their natural flair to innovate, empower and influence others to act in meaningful ways and ultimately change the world. For emphasis, let’s site few of these leaders. They are leaders like Mahatma Gandhi of old India, Winston Churchill, Lew Kwan Yew, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Nelson Mandelas of this world etc. A common thread pattern particularly runs through these leaders. St Teresa of Calcutta was particularly determined to ease suffering in the world through her selfless services to humanity.
Just like Governor Ugwuanyi in the 21st century, despite the dire straits of the global economy especially in our clime, St Teresa was reputed to discountenance lack of equipment and other resources and has always found a way to open a school for poor children teaching them to read and write using sticks in the dirt. Governor Ugwuanyi having come to the realization that playing the victim card with the economic conditions of the country rather than innovate to lift his subjects from the abyss of economic quagmire will remain an anathema to what he has always stood for.
Setting up and re-invigorating an Enugu SME Centre with the appointment of a youthful and intelligent technocrat, Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah was just a rolling stone to crystallize his visions to emancipate his people economically. The Enugu SME Centre has truly carved a niche for itself and serving triumphantly as a catalyst to grow the economy of the people through skills acquisition programs that would blossom entrepreneurial revolutions in the state. Going forward, these entrepreneurial revolutions will mark a visible end to the intractable employment opportunities and grow the GDP on the other hand. History would forever be favorable to Governor Ugwuanyi in this regard.
It is gladdening to observe that the government of Ugwuanyi is not in any way playing to the gallery with the visible efforts of the Enugu SME centre. Through the robust sensitization efforts they have been able to put in place all these while, a lot of citizens are beginning to have a grasp of the many advantages of skills acquisition and it’s potentials to uplift their living situations. Governor Ugwuanyi is equally following up with the successful skills trainees to offer them seed capital to take off at little or no interest. What can be better done than this?
It is equally gladdening to note that while other states across the federation including the almighty federal government are hamstrung to absorb even little from the multitudes of the unemployed citizens, governor Ifeanyichukwu Ugwuanyi led administration recently flagged off employment drive to absorb qualified skilled and unskilled labour in the education sector. It is a truly good time for our education trajectories in the state.
His Excellency, Rt Hon. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi is a true visioner whom we must support in all fronts to make his remaining months in office worthwhile for the benefit of Ndi Enugu.
Enugu state is truly in the hands of God.
