Governor Ugwuanyi – A Cheerful Giver.

Giving is a universal norm. The Good Book equally has kind words for givers. Such phrases as “God loves a cheerful giver”, “Givers never lack” are copiously stated to underscore the importance of giving or presenting gifts to our fellow members of the society. Although a lot of people give for different reasons, it would appear that the act of giving is rooted in the Biblical injunctions when Jesus Christ enjoined his disciples to love one another irrespective of creed or race. Christ himself was to make the greatest sacrifice of all times by giving up his divinity to ensure that mankind is redeemed. The art of giving has never become so easy in recent time owing to the poor economic conditions of the people on one hand much less presenting a gift to person or persons who might not be directly related to us. This is exactly where the charge of Christ to us to love one another irrespective of creed, race or personal affiliations comes in handy. Sometimes, we give without considerations. At other times, we give because we expect to get a reward of our gift from the other party in future. Let us therefore examine Ugwuanyi’s motive or intentions as he gifts the Muslim community in Enugu food items and other sundries in honor of the Eid-El Kabir which took place between 20 and 21st of July 2021.

It must be stated here that the art of presenting gifts to the Muslims in Enugu during their festive seasons did not just in 2021. This much was confirmed by the Sarkin Hausawa in Enugu State, Alhaji Abukakar Yusuf Sambo when he commended governor Ugwuanyi for always having his people in mind at every festive period. But it is equally instructive to understand why Enugu State has remained largely peaceful and secure while her neighbors boil in comparison. By consciously seeking the friendship of people of different cultures and religion, the game plan is to secure their buy in towards the maintenance of peace and security of the state.

The latest outreach to celebrate with the Muslim faithfuls in Enugu wherein His Excellency Lawrence Ifeanyichukwu Ugwuanyi presented food items comprising bags of rice, beverages, cows, water and undisclosed sum of money at the central mosque at Owerri road, Asata Enugu would be seen as the consolidation of the peace efforts of the government to make Enugu State a home for all irrespective of culture, clan or religious bent.

Accepting the sallah gifts items on behalf of the Muslim community, the Sarkin Hausawa of Enugu state, Alhaji Abubakar Yusuf Sambo, illuminated the commitment of Governor Ugwuanyi’s Administration towards national unity and integration and above all, the peace enjoyed by all the residents of Enugu state, without consideration for religious beliefs, tribe and political parties.
Alhaji Abubakar further urged leaders of diverse cultures and backgrounds to emulate governor Ugwuanyi’s humility and his passion and commitment to inculturate good governance, peace and love to the governed which will hasten an egalitarian society in the country.
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is a cheerful giver. If all his efforts in government is considered a great sacrifice by a leader who is on a mission, then he is truly a cheerful giver and he would never ever lack the support of his people.

Truly Enugu state is in the hands of God.
