To ascertain the status of all the properties acquired in the name of Enugu State Government since establishment, the amiable governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi had on Wednesday, 9th September, 2020 constituted a 9-man ad hoc committee to carry out the historic and unique assignment embedded with far-reaching implications.
This was disclosed by the sound Secretary to the State Government, Professor, Simon Uchenna Ortuanya as he announced that the technical committee would be headed by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Professor, Malachy Ukwueze. Ortuanya further clarified that the job description is to among other things, identify the properties of Enugu State Government wherever they are found, determine their status along with the level of compliance with the monetization of the those properties.
Quoting Professor Ortuanya, verbatim, the assignment of the committee is to” identify Enugu State landed properties, in and out of the state, verify the claims of individuals or Corporate bodies to Enugu State Government properties; identify the level of indebtedness of individuals and corporate bodies to Enugu State Government with respect to government’s landed property allocation; and to make further findings and/or recommendations that are reasonably incidental to the attainment of the above objectives.”
The assignment which has been slated to be through within two months interval has the following as its members: Mr. Livinus Okoro ( Auditor-General,Enugu State); Tpl. Charles Chuks Ngene ( Deputy Director, Town Planning); Esv. Dennis.N. Ezemma; Surv.Kingsley Chime and Chief Jeff Ogbodo.
Others include Mr. Ebuka Odoh; Mr. Joshua Udeh and Okeke Onuora Monday,Esq ( SA to the Governor,SSG’s office) also saddled with the responsibility of functioning as the secretary to the committee.
