The Returning Officer for Orumba North Local Government Area in the 2021 Anambra governorship election, Dr. Michael Otu has alleged that thugs manhandled him and forced him to sign a fake election result.
Otu made the revelation on Sunday at the State Collation Centre located at the INEC headquarter office in Awka, the state capital.

According to him, he signed a fake result sheet under duress after the hoodlums teargassed him and mutilated the original result sheets.
He accused the Polling Officer, Comfort Omoroge of compromise in the polls.

He said, “I am lucky to be alive. I was teargassed and as a BP patient, I nearly lost my life. I was forced to sign a result that wasn’t collated by me. The Polling Officer, Comfort Omoroge, who worked with me compromised.”

However, Omoroge in her reaction, denied compromising the election, stating that Otu is an ignorant and confused person who doesn’t know the difference between casting of vote and collation of results.

“This man (Onu) has not been involved in an election and it is obvious from the way he behaved on the election day. His actions put us at risk,” she countered.
Orumba is one of the two LGAs whose result is yet to be declared by INEC after Saturday’s election.

Meanwhile, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA), Professor Charles Soludo has been declared winner in 17 out of 21 local government election results so far declared in Anambra State.

The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) with the development, is moving closer to being officially declared as the winner of the 2021 Anambra governorship election.

Soludo has steadily extended his lead over other candidates as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continues to announce the results of Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra.
So far, the APGA candidate has won in Dunukofia, Awka North, Awka South, Oyi, Ayamelum, Anaocha, Anambra East, Idemili North, Idemili South, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Njikoka, Nnewi South, Anambra West, Aguata, Orumba South and Ekwusigo local government areas.
