Gov Ugwuanyi’s Chieftaincy Title As Ifezulumba Of Igboland In Anambra, A Guest On The Center-Stage

The Nigerian Chieftaincy is the chieftaincy system that is native to Nigeria. Consisting of everything from the country’s monarchs to its titled family elders, the chieftaincy as a whole is one of the oldest continuously existing institutions in Nigeria and is legally recognized by its government.

Gov Ugwuanyi’s recognition in Ukpo’s ancient kingdom as “Ifezulumba” is a sign of peaceful transfer of power. The procedure through which the governor was conferred on this highly revered title, was basically his democratic precedence as an Igbo outstanding leader who uncommonly spearheaded the unity of Igbo race in her contemporaries.

Gov Ugwuanyi, earned this traditional respect because of his high regards and treatment for the traditional stool. His Excellency, the governor always pride the tradition rulers as the agents of change, developments and the people whose impute in keeping to the tenets of peace, progress, and security of lives and properties of her people resides within their scope. To this, in Enugu, his administration has provided a level playing ground for all the traditional institutions to effectively operate as recognized government close to the people, by steadily empowering them with state logistics to function optimally.

Gov Ugwuanyi as Ifezulumba, signifies unity among Igbo race; this revered respect from Ukpo traditional institution to the Enugu governor, serves as a unifying force. In other words, the chieftaincy institution brings the people together. The people get involved in the activities of enstooling or enskining. This singular honor done to the governor in traditional recognition by the people of Anambra, is a pure sign of Ugwuanyi’s uncommon bridge builder. This ensures that unity prevails among Ogbo nation.

Another importance of Ugwuanyi’s Chieftaincy recognition in Anambra, is a show of preservation of culture and tradition; the chieftaincy institution helps to preserve the culture of the people. There are procedures in the choice, selection and installation of a chief under the traditional setting. All these procedures are what His Excellency, Rt Hon Dr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the executive governor of Enugu state had eminently qualified for before accepting this recent recognition in Anambra, having been so much decorated with different traditional titles in Enugu state, especially from his hometown as Uduluekenyi 1 of Orba in Udenu local government, and so as numerous ones cut across the three Senatorial zone in the state.

Gov Ugwuanyi’s title taking as Ifezulumba, promotes stability and development in inter-state relations; governor Ugwuanyi’s continue to ensure hope through his practical leadership examples, helps to promote peace in the Igbo society and Nigeria in general. His character as a national leader in the PDP from the Southeast Nigeria, also ensures stability and development of our sister states in maintaining peace and harmony in respecting the inter-state boundary adjustments. Because, stability of peace and security within the inter-state relations, precedes development in an ensured society.

Gov Ugwuanyi’s relationship with the traditional government since ever he was elected governor, even before he was governor, remain a social control mechanism that endeared him much respect and political oversight in the Southeast of the PDP.
