Trust and reliability are virtuous attributes that have no monetary values attached to it. They are not learned attributes and once broken or compromised, it becomes near impossible for one’s partner, colleague to succumb to subsequent assurances, from the other even when there are ocean of accruable benefits. Hence, it is good to maintain or keep to one’s part of the bargain in other to be further engaged or entrusted with future contracts. It is often expressed in igbo adage as “Ezi di mma, ejee ya nke ugboro abua”. His Excellency, Rt.Hon Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi had lived up to the expectations of the people worthy of emulation and deserving of the trust of good people of Enugu State. This could be explained in simple terms as this : Anyone who is set on a journey with relatively an unknown driver would necessarily be encouraged to look out for same driver when next he or she embarks on another journey if the performance of such driver proves a rewarding experience.
The people of Enugu boarded a train with Gov. Ugwuanyi in control of the paddle. The astute administrator and ex-law maker of a high repute, assumed the leadership position with a mandate to reposition the narratives of Ndi Enugu. People actually receive accolades, commendations and eulogies, which is common and accepted in our present clime, as a way of appreciating and applauding good deeds or extraordinary performances. Many times, the internet and social media platforms are inundated with endless but sycophantic songs and praises of non-existing chain of individual performances or works. All these conglomerates of exaggerated praise singing and drum beating for non-performers and mediocres, had on many occasions been projected just for personal aggrandizement and gratification.
In real sense, people celebrate an iconic influencer or leader if such person(s) have distinguished themselves creditably well in areas, that had improved human lives from smallest unit of human existence to the larger context, be it at community, state or federal level. Gov. Ugwuanyi had shown a remarkable and legendary attribute of a father, who would have a first hand knowledge of the plight and needs of his children and swiftly employ the necessary wherewithal to address their plights.
To engender the trust of the citizens, the astute leader, Rt.Hon.Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi, broke the voodoo which had held and impeded development at the grassroot level. He made Rural-Urban Renewal a top priority of his government and reactivated all the enablers of good governance in the rural communities.
To drive home his noble objectives, Gburugburu floated a very popular and rare programme of one-community-one-project for the entire autonomous communities in the state, an ideology of “Ekwueme”as seen in the character and doing of our amiable Governor.
Enugu had become pivotal for security meetings and flag offs.This is owing to it’s position as the most peaceful state in the whole of South East. And when the Inspector-General of police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba at the launching of special operation in Enugu reasserted that south eastern region is a place where it’s people are known to be peaceful and tolerant, he was referring to Enugu State which under the leadership of Rt.Hon.Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi has become the most conducive abode, where people from other states in Nigeria take refuge in the fountain of peace.
