That the government of Rt. Honorable Ifeanyichukwu Ugwuanyi, the incumbent governor of Enugu state has done so much in the area of health care delivery can never be overemphasized, perhaps his heart warming strides in this critical sector of the economy has continued to resonate with the good people of the state and non indigenes as well.
Today his government is building a world class hospital in Orba in Udenu Local Government of Enugu State in a move described by many as capable of stemming the increasing issues of medical tourism which has in no small measure depleted our scarce resources. The world class hospital when completed would compete favorably with any acclaimed graded hospital around the world and would attract the much needed foreign exchange into the country. Ugwuanyi indeed is a man of vision. As one who operates from the Lion building, the seat of power in Enugu, Ugwuanyi is regarded as a man who works like a lion, yet unassuming and humble in the face of his many developmental strides.
In the wake of Covid 19 pandemic that ravaged the globe in the better part of 2020, Gov. Ifeanyichukwu Ugwuanyi as a man who holds the interest and well-being of his people upper-chest moved swiftly to rehabilitate and upgrade some of the critical health facilities such as the Colliery Hospital, Poly Clinic, Parklane general hospital all in the Enugu metropolis to cater for the expected patients or victims of the pandemic. All the cottage hospitals built by the previous governments across the state were equally put to effective use by Gov Ugwuanyi to help ameliorate the health needs of the people.
At the moment, his government is rehabilitating the Enugu Ezike general hospital Ogrute, one of the oldest hospital in the whole of Nsukka area. Perhaps, his uncommon vision to place Enugu state in world map when it comes to health delivery system stems from his humongous resources being expended despite serious economic downturn to reposition the state owned tertiary institution, ESUT College of Medicine by embarking on multi campuses with massive construction on going. This is to ensure that needed man power and expertise are strategically churned out to take care of critical health issues. Ugwuanyi is a man who values skills and places much premium on human capital development. It is hoped that ESUT College of Medicine will train and supply the needed expertise in the health care industry which will inadvertently push many of our young ones to be gainfully employed.
To underscore his government’s seriousness to health issues, the outbreak of yellow fever epidemic that claimed lives in Igboeze North and South LGA sometime in 2020 provided another litmus test. His government moved swiftly to nip the ugly epidemic in the board by effectively procuring and administering potent vaccine to the people in the area. Today to the glory of God, the epidemic has been won and conquered courtesy of Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s intervention.
To ensure that diseases that might become an epidemic or an emergency factor are contained in every nooks and crannies of the state, the Enugu State Ministry of health undertakes a regular medical outreach in all the villages. The state government has equally encouraged orthopedic activities in rural areas by giving necessary support on regular basis to traditional bone setters in the villages. This has helped much and is quite commendable. Thank you Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi our Governor for doing so much for us in Enugu state.
