It was Kofi Annan that said that there is no tool for development more effective than the empowerment of women, knowing full well that when women participate in the economy, everyone benefits.
Naturally, it takes grace to be human, but then it takes everything to be a woman. It is definitely difficult being a woman and growing up as a girl. When you’re graceful, people say you lack personality; when you’re serene, people say you’re boring; when you’re confident, people say you’re arrogant; when you’re feminine, people say you’re too girly; and when you climb trees, people say you’re too much of a tomboy! And when you are everything the world wants you to be, you still get climbed on forcefully for being different from others. In fact, it has always been very difficult to be a woman in a patriarchal society that gives unequal opportunities to women, until the righteous came into power in Enugu State Government and the moribund story was rewritten in an instance.
Ever since the emergence of Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as the Enugu State Governor, he has been resolute to build Enugu State of the founding fathers’ dream, where peace, harmony, inclusive governance and rapid development hold sway. Starting from physical infrastructures to agricultural rejuvenation, not forgetting rural developments that have succeeded in developing fresh economic opportunities and reducing pressure on Enugu metropolis for socio-economic expansion.
It is no longer news how the youths have been included in the governance of the state, irrespective of age and background. As though these were not enough, the Youth-Friendly Governor who has taken special interest in empowering the women, reinstated his fatherly love to all the Female Comrades in Enugu State by giving them instant employment from the Enugu State Service Commission.
It was gathered from the president of the Enugu State Female Comrades, Dr. Nwabueze Goodness Ngesochukwu, who led a delegation to the government house sometime in September, 2020 to foster female-inclusive government that the Governor gave 16 graduate members instant Civil Service Employment. Some of the members that got their official appointment letters are Adaeze Isamade Anita, Nnabuokike Brenda, Iloka Isabella, Ogbuefi Esther, Sylvanus Favour, etc.
It is to be noted that the Enugu State Female Comrades Association aims at improving the welfare, progress and standard of living of young female leaders in Enugu State and bringing them into full participation in the mainstream of the society. These aims among others have thus been fulfilled by the Executive Governor of Enugu, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, proving to all and sundry that government is always of the people, by the people and for the people!
