Those who crave and work for peace shall be satisfied. Matters of peace have long been advocated in the Book of Life where in the slain Lamb of God blessed and enamored all those who would consciously work for peace. “Blessed are the peace makers for they shall be called children of God” (Mat:5:9). Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is an advocate of peace. He is already sharing in the blessings that only the Almighty God can give to His children working for peace. Gburu-Gburu of Enugu State have overtime restated his commitment to enduring peace in Enugu State. Little wonder then that while other states in the federation have been buffeted on all sides by sundry issues of insecurity, banditry and political disharmony, Enugu State has remained largely peaceful and calm. Little wonder too, why Enugu state has continued to play host to wide spectrum of individuals from across the nation and the globe. The coal city state has earned for herself another sobriquet as “home of peace”, “home for all” courtesy of governor Ugwuanyi’s sincere move to secure Ndi Enugu from the bad elements and marauders.
It is important to understand the opening canton of this article for what it is. “Those who crave and work for peace shall be satisfied”. In the realization of the strategic importance of Enugu State as the political headquarters of the Eastern Nigeria and governor Ugwuanyi’s antecedent in peace building mechanism, the new Police Chief chose Enugu as the desired location to launch what he termed “Operation Restore Peace in Enugu”.
Addressing the mammoth crowd that gathered for the special operation flag off in Enugu, the new Acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, psc (+), NPM, fdc said much about what Enugu represents in the South East and how Ugwuanyi has actually committed to enthroning peace in the region. It must be noted that the choice of Enugu for the flag off which took place on the 18th of May at Micheal Okpara Square was to make a bold statement that Enugu remains a convinient place in the entire South East where such inimitable event could be held. Recently, the ubiquitous “gun men” have really been on the rampage cutting down security operatives in their prime, maiming others, torching security infrastructures and facilities in most states in the South East but have cleverly or consciously avoided the coal city state. Perhaps in the realization of the fact that daylight and darkness have no meeting point.
Governor Ugwuanyi has placed Enugu state in the daylight mode and would be hamstrung to accommodate darkness exemplified by the evil marauders.
The new Acting IGP, Usman Baba Alkali, hinted that part of the objectives of the flag off of Operation Restore Peace is to return the entire South East region to its Historical Peaceful Path where its people are known to be peaceful, tolerant, innovative, industrious and entrepreneurial. The IGP was also emphatic in his praise for Ugwuanyi’s sterling efforts in peace building while tasking his counterparts in same regard. He promised to replicate the same operational strategy to other parts of the country as the issues of insecurity have truly become hydra-headed and worrisome.
In his usual calm disposition, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, while commending the IGP for initiating the special operation also described it as timely and believes it will help in rejigging and re-tooling the security architecture of the South-East.
Let’s stand up for this man of peace and workaholic leader par excellence. True thumbs up for Ugwuanyi all the way! Enugu State remains firmly in God’s hands!
