The former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, Shehu Sani, has called out Nigerian government and the military over the statement released by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, claiming that insurgency and terrorism may continue in Nigeria for another 20 years.

Sani is wondering why such a statement is coming at the time the current administration had claimed victory over the insurgency.

According to the former lawmaker, Buratai’s statement attests to the failure of those saddled with the responsibility of leading the war against terrorism in the country.

Recall that Boko Haram terrorists attacked rice farmers in Zabarmari, Jere Local Government Area of Borno State at weekend.

Senator Sani in his reaction said, “Telling our people that the Insurgency will last twenty years after repeatedly misleading claims of victories attest to the failure of those saddled with the responsibility of leading the fight. Also signifies resignation and bankruptcy of new ideas and strategies.”
