Breaking: CJN Tanko Muhammad Tests Positive For COVID-19

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Tanko Muhammad has contracted the COVID-19 virus.

This was confirmed on Tuesday in Abuja by a member of the Supreme Court, Justice Ibrahim Saulawa.

Saulawa made the confirmation at the unveiling of the national headquarters of the Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN) in Abuja, The Nation reports.

It is understood that CJN Muhammad is at the moment in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates where he is receiving treatment.

Bibian Anekwe News recalls following the absence of the CJN at the swearing-in of 72 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria on Monday, there had been concerns about the whereabouts and health status of the CJN.

The 66-year-old chief justice had not been seen in public for a long time and his absence at the swearing-in ceremony of the top lawyers again fulled speculations surrounding his health status.

The CJN swore in eight Supreme Court justices on November 6, but he has not been seen in public since then.
