Members of the National Assembly will not be resuming on January 26, 2021, as earlier scheduled.
In a statement on Saturday by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Arc. Ojo Amos, the lawmakers will now resume on Tuesday, February 9, 2020.
He said the postponement was to enable lawmakers, who are members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to partake in the party’s membership registration and revalidation exercise scheduled to begin on Monday 25th January 2020.
The lawmakers on December 21st, 2020 adjourned plenary till January 26, 2021, to enable members to observe the Christmas and New Year festivities.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has ordered the arrest of Chief Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho over the quit order issued to Fulani herdsmen in Oyo State.
The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, made this known to BBC Hausa on Friday.
The President’s spokesperson reportedly said the IGP instructed the new Police Commissioner in Oyo State, Ngozi Onadeko, to arrest Igboho and transfer him to Abuja.
Igboho, a youth leader and activist in Oyo State had issued a seven-day ultimatum to Fulani herders to leave Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The freedom fighter insisted that Fulani herders must fish out the killers of prominent Yoruba sons and daughters. He said that the reason for asking the herders to leave is because of unending killings and kidnapping.
