After about seven months closure of all the educational institutions in Enugu State in particular and the whole Nigeria in general due to the ravaging Covid 19 pandemic and knowing that it has not been easy for parents, teachers and students/pupils neither has the government found it funny managing the situation alongside the tension engendered by the unexpected lockdown in Educational institutions , the teachers, students and pupils in Enugu State will soon smile back to their schools as Enugu State Government has announced that all the primary and secondary schools in the state will resume for the third term activities on Monday, 28 of September, 2020.
This was disclosed by the Enugu State Commissioner of Education; Professor Uche Eze on Wednesday, 23rd September,2020 when he stated that “… following the Enugu State Education sector stakeholders’ consensus and a gracious approval of His Excellency, the governor ” the the decision was taken.
In the same vein, Prof. Eze emphasized that “… necessary measures have been put in place in our schools for safe re-opening” and that ” teachers/students/pupils are therefore requested to ensure that they abide by the approved guidelines on Covid 19″ as “no person will be allowed into any school without appropriate facemask/ shield.”
After reminding all that since the primary six pupils and Junior Secondary School, class three students have finished their Common Entrance and Junior WAEC respectively, they are therefore not expected to return to the schools till next year, the Education Commissioner then stated that “strong monitoring teams at state and local government areas have been constituted to monitor compliance with the approved guidelines for the safety of all that operate in our schools.”
