St. Francis of Assisi in one of his quotes did say ” All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle” he concluded by praying, Lord make me an instrument of thy peace.
That prayer was a prayer answered for Ndi Enugu, in the person of His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. The Executive Governor of Enugu State.
Senator Jim Nwobodo former governor of old Anambra State in one of his felicitation to governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi said that” We watch with admiration as you work towards restoring peace and inclusiveness that had eluded the state for some decades now. Your calm disposition in handling state matters. You have reintroduced our noble culture of respect and honour for elders of the state, irrespective of party affiliation, which had also eluded the state. Another elder satetsman Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo (CON) former governor of old Enugu State in his massage said and I quote” I note with pride your relentless effort to make things easier for our people to place food on their table, provide shelter over their heads, helping them find good paying jobs while paying their salaries promptly, giving them good education and high quality health care. All these geared towards a peaceful and secured Enugu state.
Again, the former Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 DIVISION Nigerian Army Enugu, Brig. Gen. Lasisi Adegboye described His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as statesman and God sent to Enugu state, citing the decisive measures being put in place by his administration to ensure adequate security to sustain the state’s enviable status as one of the most peaceful and safest state in the country.
Recently, The Group Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief, of Champion Newspaper Mrs. Nwadiuto Iheakanwa, in presenting” The Champion Newspaper Governor of the Year Award” stated that the choice of Gov. Ugwuanyi as the Most Outstanding Security Conscious and Peaceful Governor, was “a product of the painstaking selection of our Board of Editors”.
Mrs. Iheakanwa added that the award was “our modest way of recognizing leaders and institutions who have paid a greater sacrifice in ensuring that the objectives and ideals of our nationhood are nourished and sustained”.
Today the peaceful disposition of His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi , has reconciled former political enemies, former governors and their successors how are before now enemies. The great sacrifices you’re making is the result we are enjoying in Enugu State.
