The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II on Wednesday, held a meeting with Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu ahead of the governorship election in Edo State.

Incumbent Governor Obaseki is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while Ize-Iyamu is flying the flag of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 19 governorship polls.

Both candidates are frontrunners in the upcoming polls.

The meeting with the traditional ruler is believed to be in connection with how to curb the rising cases of violence among political opponents in the build-up to the election.

As previously reported by Bibian Anekwe News Team, Oba Ewuare had promised the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, who visited him in Benin last week that he would meet with the two candidates to find a solution to the increasing political violence in the state.

The traditional ruler had expressed sadness over the violent political happenings in the state and had promised to wade into the matter to find a lasting solution.
