The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Edo State governorship election, Godwin Obaseki, has cried out over alleged manipulation of the election process at polling units where he has strongholds.

The incumbent Governor of Edo State made the assertion in a statement a few minutes ago through his Special Adviser, Crusoe Osagie.

According to Osagie in an interaction with newsmen during the Saturday polls, “there is an ongoing deliberate election manipulation in areas where he has strongholds.”

“Suddenly, card readers are not working in areas where Governor Godwin Obaseki is very popular,” the SA lamented.

He added, “Voters are being disenfranchised and we are constrained to say that this is sabotage,”

“Specifically, in Oredo Ward 1, Unit 20 and other places where the Governor is clearly popular, the card readers are not working.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should prove to Edo voters that it can conduct a credible election in Edo State.”

Meanwhile, former Vice President of Nigeria and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2019 presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has condemned the alleged harassment of PDP governors by Police in Edo State.
