Endorsements has become somewhat of a political siamese twins of every leader in political power or position. While endorsements are seen in some circumstances as self seeking by the endorsers, the endorsees are often compelled to see their responsibilities as leaders of the people as dispensing uncommon favors. Truth is that most political office holders see their position as an end in itself rather than a means to an end. Therefore, they often behave as the lords of the manor where political favors must be demanded from the people who are equally compelled to form different subtanarean groups to chant the praise of these leaders who may not be performing above average.
I am convinced beyond what many may tag as political hyping of a leader who is foremost accountable to the people who elected him and therefore do not deserve to be praised for doing their job. For if anyone would not perform his or her job, why would such person present himself to the people to be elected. At any rate, the resources spent in the affairs of the people remains those of the people and not the single leader. It is therefore incumbent on any leader to utilize the common wealth of the people for their sole welfare and should not be praised. But experience has shown us in this part of the world, that politicians have often believed albeit erroneously that the common wealth is theirs alone and they have powers to dispense with it howbeit it suited them. Deriving from the above, it remains to be seen how contemporary leaders in our clime would not abuse the trust of their offices and go about misapplying the resources meant for the people. This remains the reality of our time.
It is important to note too that one leader have refused to be swayed by the realities as painted above but has remained focused to deliver on his mandate. That leader curiously in our contemporary time is no other but His Excellency, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. It is not a matter of argument that though he might have had more than a fair deluge of endorsements, vote of confidence and lots more from a wide spectrum of the Ndi Enugu, it is an endorsement and sincere praise from the people whose lives were positively touched. It was a sincere vote of confidence that was passed without a subtranean move from the government to elicit such from the people. There are quite a few of these endorsements that need to be mentioned here for record purposes and for which the government would not be accused of demanding these from the people.
In a more recent time, the Enugu North political block gathered at the government field Nsukka to express their sincere gratitude to the governor for what they termed his outstanding accomplishments in the governance of the state. The group under the auspices of “Oganiru Nsukka” were unanimous in their declaration that governor Ugwuanyi is a sincere and passionate leader who understands the intricacies of government more perfectly.
In like manner, the people of Enugu West political block met and were emphatic that governor Ugwuanyi is the 9th wonder of the world in the 21century in appreciation of his good works and visible goals in the governance of the state. Even the agitation for power shift to Enugu West got dwindled by massive endorsements from people of the zone.
Again, another mega rally was held by the people of Enugu East at Okpara Square where they chanted the achievements of governor Ugwuanyi led administration in one voice. At the rally, all the political heavy weight in Enugu East political block was there irrespective of political divide and was emphatic that governor Ugwuanyi is a capacity and a trusted leader. Even the main opposition political party APC confessed that they are no match to Gov Ugwuanyi at all. They therefore enjoined everyone to give him maximum support to achieve his massive vision for the good of Ndi Enugu.
Ugwuanyi’s sincere endorsements from the people have been coming in different shades and colors. Enugu state citizens living in America recently donated a set of medical equipments to the state to aid in her fight against unwholesome diseases in the state.
Gov Ugwuanyi have highly silenced opposition in Enugu State not with thuggery or with intimidation but with his good governance approach. This goes a long way to confirm that Enugu State is really in the hands of God.
