It has become an open secret that the state of China is trusting heavily in its industrial policy believed to be a major plank for accelerated economic success. It is also on record that the Chinese government has continued to invest heavily, committing over 300 US dollars over the last couple of years in identified technology and other sundry catalysts for sustainable economic growth. The world players in high tech revolution is no less enamored and awed by the industrial trajectories of the state of China in recent years. Today, while most countries of the world grovel under the weight of the global economic turmoil occasioned largely to the ravages of COVID-19 pandemic, China has become relatively better in socio-political and economic well-being. China has turned a bigger player in the economic world stage. It is still important to stress that Chinese economy did not just witness a sudden boom. It is the crystallization of a renewed and conscious plan over the years to reposition it’s economy and transform it as a major factor to reckon with on the global stage.

The above foregrounding has become necessary to better situate the visions of the ebullient Lion of Enugu State, His Excellency, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as exemplified in his current move to replicate the Chinese audacity of growth in Enugu State through the SME Centre. There is no doubt that governor Ugwuanyi has been able to make considerable inroads in the area of sensitization and inculcating in the young minds the tenets of self sufficiency via establishments of small scale enterprises. An amazing young vibrant man and an egg head was not only brought in by the governor to navigate the SME hub center, but has given Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah a massive space and support to prove to Ndi Enugu that a China story is possible in our clime given the necessary will and zeal to achieve it.

Today, Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah led Enugu SME Centre is proving even the most rabid pessimists wrong with his deft approach to instil the ideals of skill-tepreneur among the teeming youths in Enugu State. The buy in of the youths in this regard has been quite impressive as it is remarkable. The blueface effects due to the sensitization efforts of Hon. Chilo-Offiah and his group have been overwhelming too, pointing to the positive fact of the vision of governor Ugwuanyi. From community to schools sensitization programs to preach SME to the people and the students, Chilo-Offiah has remained resolute to achieve the mandate of governor Ugwuanyi led administration in the state.
It is again important to reiterate the tremendous efforts by the SME hub center in the area of investment and funding of small scale businesses in Enugu State. Start up business owners have often had to grapple with the twin issues of skill knowledge and funding to grow their businesses. That the Enugu SME centre has been able to stand in the gap for these issues and more is unarguable. Many start ups and budding entrepreneurs have benefited immensely from the soft loans and other welfare incentives packaged by the Enugu SME centre under the headship of Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah. Many skill training ranging from auto refurbishing, electrical and electronics, fashion designing, Welding, Digital tech trainings and ICTs etc, has become common features of the inimitable Enugu SME hub center.

One thing can only be understood from this current trajectory, governor Ugwuanyi is making steady and a determined effort to reposition the economic prosperity of Enugu State through sustainable economic development objectives. We should remain optimistic too, that whoever is taking over from the vision-packed governor would sustain this tempo to make Enugu take her rightful position in the comity of other states in Nigeria. It is doable. Ugwuanyi has both the way and the will. Gradually, Enugu State will graduate to the status of a China in Nigeria, nay Africa!
Enugu state is truly in the hands of God.
