FACTORS THAT ENHANCED PEACE ECONOMY IN ENUGU STATE VOL. 2

Peaceful Coexistence and Harmonious Living: This become possible since the administration sees everyone as humans and cater for the general well-being of the people devoid of any ethno-religious consideration. Religion which has been a tool for division in Nigeria has been used to spread peace and love by governor Ugwuanyi who is the chief agent of peacebuilding in Enugu State. He brought all the religious leaders together and key them into his peace mantra which is yielding serious result today.
Information Flow and Communication: Institutions of government under governor Ugwuanyi is open for public scrutiny and he always communicate to the citizens on the programmes and activities of his government through a town hall meeting in which the citizens made their contributions for State interest. This has created trust in his administration and his accountability and transparency he applied in the running of the government is uncommon in Nigeria politics.
Promotion of Human Right: Through judicial reform, corrupt judicial officials has been tamed and through judicial independence, justice to all is assured. The judges in the State could dispense justice without fear or favour. Rape cases and other violation of human right has been taken seriously by the administration and capital punishment allocated to some of the offences to serve as deterrence to the perpetrators. Independent of the judiciary have also contain executive rascality as evidently shown in Enugu present political development; an era the judiciary arm of the government is free to act without interference from the executive as what is obtainable in the past.
Low Levels of Corruption: The corruption index is very low in Enugu since Ugwuanyi step in as the governor of the State. This is because of his financial discipline and leakages he plugged which is helping the administration in embarking on capital projects even at the face of the challenges associated with covid 19 were many States in Nigeria have stopped all forms of capital projects. He has changed politics from what is used to be in the past to service to Enugu people. He clearly stated this in his 2015 swearing in speech when he opined that:
“However, I also believe that we must match our faith with the right decisions and good work. I will therefore be calling on Ndi Enugu to tighten their belts. But the difference between our model of belt tightening and the one you used to know, is that the belt tightening under this administration will start with government functionaries and businesses. We will lead by example. We will lead a lean government to free up resources and channel them to the real development issues”. Low level of corruption in Nigeria as in the case in Enugu State will end the perpetual poverty in Africa and common wealth utilize to unlock potentials in this part of the globe.
Human Capital Development: The government of Ugwuanyi has made human capital development the cardinal point of his administration. He has given business grants to so many youths of the State and has continued to sponsor many youth skill acquisition programmes in Enugu conducted in different locations in the State. He also awarded scholarship to indigent students and had made business loan available to the youths in the State. His job creation through wealth speaks volume of his administration. The administration has embarked on grassroots mobilization of human potentials which will boost economic development in their various communities. The mobilization of these talents will elicit empowerment for more productive engagement of our youths. This has created wealth in our State.
Good Business Environment: The government of Ugwuanyi has ensure adequate security for business to thrive in the State. This has led the influx of investors into the State hence job opportunities have become possible. His government has provided avenue for all citizens to engage in economic activities anywhere in the State without restriction and every community must protect those living with them and they must be law abiding citizens ready to adhere to the dos and don’t of their host community; and avoid anything that will create tension in the land.
Governor Ugwuanyi is a peace setter in Enugu State and it is our citizens responsibility to be supportive in all his people’s policies in the State.
