The Federal Captial Territory Administration has asked all schools in Abuja to resume their activities coming Monday, January 18.
The Abuja authority in an announcement made on Friday, January 15 by the FCT Acting Secretary and Director, Administration and Finance, Leramoh Abdulrazaq, said the resumption would be in total adherence with the directives of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC and the Federal Ministry of Education to curtail the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
SOURCE understands the official gave the directive at a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja yesterday.
Abdulrazaq again admonished school heads to ensure total compliance with the dreaded COVID-19 protocols.
He said: “The FCT Education Secretariat has directed all Schools in FCT to resume accordingly.”
“The education management would always place the safety of the staff members and students as priority as they returned to their various schools for the new academic session,” Abdulrazaq was quoted saying.
He noted further in the briefing that the secretariat had made provisions for all that is needed to ensure safe resumption amidst the second wave of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Nigeria sets a new COVID-19 record on Friday, posting its highest infections of almost 2,000 new cases in a single day.
Figures from the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Friday, January 15, 2021, showed that the nation reported 1,867 new cases.
