A rising motivational teacher Roland Onamusi took his time to challenge us as follows;
“If we can take each day as a gift, then the storm will not weigh us down. If we can take each day as a gift, then we will be grateful and contented with what we have and where we are today. If we can take each day as a gift, our lives will be devoid of murmurings and complaining.”
Gburu-Gburu today is a signature mark of an individual. Gburu-Gburu connotes an all rounder, somewhat of a global phenomenon where one is not just making a mark in one sector but all sectors particularly those with high values to transform the economic landscape of his society. Taking a cue from the didactic quotation of Roland above, every discerning minds would readily agree that the current Governor of Enugu state, Rt. Honorable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is a positive force and gift whose time has come. Aside politics whose propensity is readily aligned to praise singing of political office holders irrespective of performances in office, one thing is certain though, that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is one of those unique individuals in government who has taken the issues of governance very seriously. If we as a people therefore can take each day as a gift, then we will be grateful and contented with what we have and where we are today in Enugu State courtesy of what many apolitical citizens have often described as the giant strides of Ugwuanyi’s administration.

Gburu-Gburu as an all rounder and a veritable leadership resource took time to elucidate on verifiable marks in the educational sector penultimate week which is seen by many including my humble self as the height of Public Relations strategy to inform and educate the people and devoid of political propaganda. The Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB) through it’s Chairman Ikeje Asogwa while addressing news men recently revealed that the state government aside recruiting a total of 7,030 primary and secondary school teachers, it also procured and distributed over 48,000 classroom furniture and other learning tools for school children and their teachers across the state.
Chief Asogwa also informed news men that government supplied and installed computers to 490 primary and secondary schools; science equipment to 151 secondary schools, and constructed and renovated classroom blocks, offices and hostels, among others, under the Post Primary School Management Board (PPSMB). To ensure quality impartation Chief Asogwa further revealed, the state government had ensured that all renovated or newly constructed schools were fully equipped with learners’ chairs and lockers; teachers’ tables and chairs; marker boards and ceiling fans; instructional materials/teacher’s guide; sporting equipment, among others”.

Perhaps, what is far more revealing with the revelation of Chief Ikeje Asogwa, the ENSUBEB Chairman is the fact that Gburu-Gburu is steadily investing in the future of the economy of Enugu state through its intervention in the education sector. It is my humble prayer that all men of goodwill will continually support the Gburu-Gburu philosophy of good governance in the state.

Let those saddled with the actualization of the Gburu-Gburu philosophy in the state rise to the occasion so that Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi will remain our heart’s song even after 2023. Only then, shall will continue to affirm that Enugu state remains truly in the hands of God.
