It has been rightly stated that the most appropriate reward for hard work is more work. Having adopted this axiom , the impeccable records and successful delivery of bumper dividends of democracy by The Rt Hon Dr Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Governor of Enugu State, have sufficiently proved beyond doubt that His Excellency is worthy and capable of leading Nigerian nation; and should, therefore, proceed to Aso Villa to confront the numerous malaises chocking the people to death.

Among others, some of the teething challenges requiring the Rt Hon Dr Lawrence Ugwuanyi’s urgent intervention include, but not limited to, the steady dwindling of the national economy and embarrassing nosediving of the national currency exchange values, massive corruption and unwarranted destruction of the lives of innocent Nigerians, nationwide youth restive Ness, high rate of unemployment, falling standards in education and high rate of out of school age children caused by poverty and insecurity, galloping inflation, ethnic disintegration and cries for secession as well as overwhelming sociopolitical
instabilities.

As a vibrant healthy youth leader, Ugwuanyi as president, shall not indulge in wasteful routine overseas medical trips at the expense of the taxpayers funds. Even as a State Governor he did not send his children to study abroad the courses offered in Nigerian learning institutions.

Interestingly enough, we are here talking about a silent achiever who had completed, commissioned and handed over numerous landmark projects in the State capital and 17 local government councils of Enugu State without indulging in wasteful political jamborees or media coverage merely for publicity and fanfares aimed at scoring cheap political points, as his counterparts do.

In a country so divided and disintegrated at the moment, an unbiased non tribal bridge builder of Ugwuanyi’s personality, with innate peaceful disposition and forgiving spirit, is needed to salvage the battered egos of the aggrieved Nigerians and to put smiles on their faces through his practice and belief in equity, justice and fairness to all.

It was not by accident or coincidence that Ugwuanyi had bagged meritorious Turkish Award of “The Most Peaceful Governor in Nigeria 2021.” Even his political colleagues had, at one time or the other, attested to his impeccable stellar qualities as a leader. Only very recently, His Excellency, Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of Rivers State, during his strategic fraternal visit to Rt Hon Dr Ugwuanyi, poured encomiums on him, describing Ugwuanyi as “a good man and one of the shinning lights of the PDP in Nigeria; very humble, quiet, gentle and God fearing leader as well as a very reliable brother and friend.” “This man is a good man, a good man in all ramifications”, he
continued.

We are here talking about Governor Ugwuanyi of Enugu State. A Governor who had sponsored the members of the State Assembly to the University Cambridge, UK on Advanced Leadership Course to improve their Legislative capacities can equally calibrate our National Assembly to a world class standard. A Governor who sponsored 52 Senior Management staff to National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) to improve their efficiency of service can transform the entire Federal Civil Service workforce. A Governor who has up to 40% of women in his government and who sponsored 9 prominent women of Enugu state to Rwanda for effective administration will likely be the first President of Nigeria to achieve the 2015 UN Agreement of 35% Affirmative Women Participation in Governance. A Governor who trained and empowered great number of youths of Enugu state in various skills acquisitions programs shall mitigate the sufferings of Nigerian youths which resulted from the massive unemployment in the country.

Just last month, the Power Shift Movement of Nigeria had conferred on Ugwuanyi: “The Most Youths Friendly Governor in Nigeria”, stating that the award was in recognition of Ugwuanyi’s youths inclusion in his governance.
Governor Ugwuanyi was again honoured and decorated with the prestigious National Peace Award as the Most Peaceful Governor in Nigeria. According to the President of the National Peace Award Committee, Dr Suleiman Adejoh, Ugwuanyi was recognized for his peace activities and peace advocacy programs in the Southeast.

Now that Nigerians have finally realized that ‘Youth’ is a sine qua non for a successful fixing of Nigeria, we should be wise to choose a vibrant, healthy and intelligent presidential candidate capable of shouldering the heavy yoke of the nation. Nigeria cannot afford to repeat the mistakes of 2015, else we would be flying from the frying pan into the main burning flames of brazen fire, thereby finally sealing the fate of the country for ever; a blunder the future generations may never forgive us.
