The cloud is gathering in a roving commission. The sea currents sings in solidarity. The waves is steadily on its course. The sky is about to cry heavy upon us flatfooted. From the build up, undisputably the unknown is cooking. Our Youths’ fate sits on the fence, largely undecided amidst the present chaotic situation and anarchism overwhelming Nigeria political atmosphere. Despite all genuine agitations, that Youths be allowed entrance into the corridors of power to share in the fiscal discuss which not only affects their today but also future existence, the hard truth portends enforcement of demonic practices that have always nudged youths to the fringe end in the scheme of things.
What may now prove an abuse of cliche is the pesky and duplicitous chorusing from unpatriotic political grandees that “youth are leaders of tommorow”.
These sit-tight elites would take turns to drum this timeworn lie in the ears of the highly impressionable and by dint of contrivance emasculate means that inspire responsibility in Youths. They easily retire into routine skulduggery and dastard manipulation which usually depletes resiliency of the vibrant segment of the society from taking charge of their destinies. This has brought the above hackneyed youthful trigger into scathing debate as to its relevance and practicability, especially when contextually dissected within the Nigerian peculiarities.
An invaluable knowledge, which over the years appears to have eluded the awareness of our Youths is the palpable disunity amongst them planted and watered by the oppressors. Disunity as a primary factor enervating the resoluteness of Nigerian Youths have been in adequate employment by unperformed leaders to perpetrate unending disorderliness in the society, thus shielding their incompetency and inability to effect meaningful changes in citizens lives vide developmental projects. Gullible youths would always play canon folder and fertile field in the hands of these gang of ungodly leaders.
As time draws closer and closer for 2023, queer events are unfolding with sufficent promptitude. The heat is gravely upon us, its intensity bears no clear message what the end of the tunnel would stare as. Obfuscating in all ramifications reads the air and more disturbing is youth seeming total surrender and recumbency in this time of call for national sacrifice. Our Youths must stand tall amidst all odds, they must reawake and reignite the embers of their patriotic hearts to salvage the country from combustible damnation. They must stand and be counted and not shy away from state responsibility which determine how their lives thrives or extirpate. They must reunite and do away with Nigeria divisional determinants that does no one good.
This is the gospel, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has been religiously propagating since his political sojourn and mileage.
Ugwuanyi entertains inflexible belief in the Youths transformational engagement with the state instrument of social cohesion and change. Ugwuanyi, a firebrand and visionary governor sees future and resourcefulness where others confirmed bleakest. This he has done through economic policies drafted and implemented to the letter, in the state where youths witnessed financial breakthroughs anchored on Small and Medium Enterprise soft loans and arrays of skills acquired. All were tailored towards granting financial autonomy to hitherto economic handicapped Youths of the State. Ability of youths to disengage from the apron of overreaching political vulture constitutes significant device to restore sanity in any democractic dispensation, as youths would be impervious to gimmicks.
Unshackling a people from economic infirmities, is the most portent offensive against election sabotage, and grand finale merchandising million destinies for paltry sum customary in circulation during electioneering. It is quite incontrovertible that, what we have come to know as stomach infrastructures, a transient satisfaction of wants have played huge roles in enticing us away from getting it right with people we entreat our mandate for good governance. They perform below the belt, yet our moral consciousness to confront them had long fizzled out in the thin air, as we are constantly pressed and reminded how we were bought over with perishables edibles.
Our Youths should wake up to the hard realities that situations will not resolve themselves, no one will upset the applecart for the better, but the Youths. Governor Ugwuanyi’s message to the Youths of this country reverberates consistently and stripped of prevarication. It is impelling equally. He urges Youths to desert their reclusive shells, descend from their high horse of sluggard spectators and cruise fun folks and to get down with the people that are making life miserable for them. Youths should quit unrewarding lassitude and pick the gauntlet, they should let their voices and demand echoes from all corners by putting up formidable unity against common threats.
Ugwuanyi exhorts Youths to make great weather of the ongoing electronic registration for voters, a tool to bank on and rejig the insufferable condition bedevilling the nation. Ugwuanyi cannot be faulted on these admonitions. May the youths hearken to this clarion call by a leader who can be trusted in words and his actions.
Enugu state is in the hands of God.
