Gov ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State have empowered over 9000 persons financially to stimulate their business activities. This is really overwhelming as it is reassuring that the empowerment strategies of his administration is not a ruse after all. They were carefully selected from the list of applicants who applied for a single digit interest loan from a partnered commercial bank. We are reassured of a leader who understands what is takes to run a successful business. Gov. Ugwuanyi understands that financial support to a business man no matter how little will keep the business continually afloat. He understands that double digits interest loan is not truly healthy for the survival of small or medium business enterprises. Gov. Ugwuanyi is a leader who appreciates that a blend of skill and capital makes a business to flourish.
It is in the realization of these and more that Enugu SME Centre has taken the bull by the horn by undertaking to train interested enterprenuers in various skills to better at their calling. Skills from Enugu SME Centre laced with financial empowerment from Enugu state government will go a long way in helping business men in Enugu State. Enugu SME Centre have taken skill acquisition and SME enlightenment to the grassroots while it continued to do so with the higher institutions across the state.
Think of it. If 9000 person is given between 200,000 to 300,000 each. How much do you think would have been given out? That is about a humongous 2 billion Naira or more.
Imagine a new market with 9000 shops. How many local market have as much as that?
The government of Ugwuanyi have not only given out the money, they have put mechanism in place to ensure that the beneficiaries made the best use of the money. There is provision for free consultation and training from government.
There are still other financial packages meant for SMEs in Enugu State.
Beside financial support, Gov Ugwuanyi have provided condusive atmosphere for businesses to thrive in Enugu State. So many local market are under reconstruction. The management of so many markets are reconstituted for better transparency and accountability. This have given enterprenuers hope and courage to continue to invest in Enugu State.
