It was the renowned American Judge Warren that submitted that “in civilized life, law floats in a sea of ethics” , needless to say that no society can survive without firm strands of imbibing casuistry enveloping the society and I subscribe to the opinion of Albert Camus who believed that “a man without ethics is a wild beast loosed upon this world.” The political mechanism of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi( Mr Fulfilment) the executive governor of Enugu State to a very large extent reveals his proper indoctrination of the hedonism of a sort of welfaristic governance platform that deserves regular examination.
It will be good for us to accommodate the wide gulf between reality and idealism; the ugly discrepancies between matter and hypothesis before we can appreciate the genuine efforts made by some of our leaders amidst widespread suspicions among the people but just as it is very difficult to count twelve without meeting one Judas so would you possibly not count twelve without meeting one Simon or Matthew and it would amount to injustice if we assign everyone with the same fate when their respective results bear different grades. Permit me to affirm that the present governor of Enugu State described recently by one of the foremost and most respected statesman in Enugu State, Senator,Dr. Chimaroke Nnamanni as “a man of self-fulfilling destiny” is conscious of the tapestry of the people’s deportment and remains strengthened with abundant oil of comportment to deliver on his promises.
When the former governor of Enugu State and a noble dignitary like Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo confirms that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is among other things ” a fantastic manager of resources” , then we can start to make objective investigations devoid of sentiment to verify the claims that Gburu Gburu has been waving some magic wand in a sincere dispensation of authority as the number one citizen of Enugu state and of course he is not relenting, being a character that does not get buoyed much by the accomplishments of yesterday, rather is driven more by the desire to get to the light at the end of the tunnel.
I know that it is possible that not everyone wish to justify the fairness of Gburu Gburu’s political exploits ,but as I type this testament, I am very excited about the certainty of feeling the presence and impacts of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s leadership from Mbu in Awgu to Neke in Udi; from Aji in Enugu Ezike to Alulu in Nike to Achi in Oji River, to Olo in Ezeagu, to Agbani in Nkanu and virtually in all the crooks and crannies of the state and for that he deserves some honest applause.
Any conscious observer of Gburu Gburu’s leadership virtues would confirm that he has the essential savoir-faire to attend to the precious decorum of his immediate society as his team of technocrats exhaust every option at their disposal to engineer innovative precipitations in order to achieve the excellence that the people yearn for but a sound student of economics would not argue whether resources are scarce or not; he would know that it is only through a religious implementation of a conscientiously drawn scale of preference that one can realise the optimal utility of the deficient resources and today, Enugu state is fast becoming the investment destination of the East, courtesy of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s administration feats. That wouldn’t have been possible if Enugu is not peaceful and economically viable. That wouldn’t have been possible if Gburu Gburu’s leadership model is not ETHICAL.
In as much as I do not intend to represent the character of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as totally unblemished, I wish to be granted the freedom to acknowledge the possibility that Gburu Gburu has been trying to demonstrate his fair and square approach to governance disguised in humility and aesthetic sensibility. I also know that when the time for statistics arrives that the list of the accomplishments of a man commonly referred to as Mr. Fulfillment and Mr. Project in different corners shall be supplied by the earnest beneficiaries of his administration’s delivery but for now I am tempted to challenge the wailing wailers to write out the manifesto of Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s campaign train and convince us that he is not delivering. But not until then, I will not be cautious of giving honour to whom it is due.
As I reluctantly pause for a while, I am confident that my governor; our governor; the people’s governor; Rt Hon. Dr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is conversant with his people’s written and verbal etiquettes but had earlier been adequately equipped with the knowledge of the intellectual D.H. Lawrence who insisted that “ethics and equity, and the principles of justice do not change with the calendar,” and I wish to remind the protagonist of this perception that just like the brainy Albert Camus agreed that ” an achievement is a bondage…it obliges one to a higher achievement” that the world is his oyster and he should not be affraid to spread his tentacles because the more, the merrier.
