Your Excellency sir,
Ndi Greater Awgu, Enugu State and indeed Nigeria are very proud to have one of the best, compassionate and gracious leader ever existed , clothed with divine and Christ-like virtues such as peace, humility, kindness and welfare for his people.
Just like the biblical quotation that says “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice” Prov. 29 vs 2. Your Excellency you’ve been a divine gift to Greater Awgu which is glaringly evident in your unique manner and style of leadership which has continued to be a shining example for other leaders from Greater Awgu.
It is undoubtedly worthy of note that in the six years that you have presided over the affairs of our dear state, you have demonstrated uncommon leadership, one which ndi Greater Awgu are themselves gracious partakers. We have noted with keen interest every policy, action and development of your administration towards Greater Awgu and they have all been laced with love and equity of every section of Enugu state which include Greater Awgu.
Under your keen leadership and gubernatorial watch our health sector has continued to experience a major reform such as the current reconstruction, expansion and upgrade of Oji River General Hospital and likewise upgrade and rehabilitation of the school of Basic Midwifery Awgu and Awgu General Hospital.
Knowing the great importance of Education as the passport to the future and on it other sectors revolve. H.E deployed machinery and resources to rebuilding, renovation, refurbishment and equipping of different primary and secondary schools in almost all communities in Greater Awgu Land through the ENSUBEB various interventions. Also among his giant strides in Greater Awgu H.E also gave full funded scholarship and bursary to primary, secondary and tertiary student’s from Greater Awgu notably to student’s of Command Secondary School Mpu and scholarship to Bangkok Global Educational award winner who defeated over 5million contestants from over 50 countries and most recently too the National Common Wealth Tertiary Institution Debating Championship by Comr. Chineke Goodluck Cajethan from Oji-river. Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has continued to display his undying love for education and the student’s which is evident in the payment of backlogs of over #2billion Universal Basic Education counterpart fund which in turn has a multiplier effect on the other sector of Enugu State.
In a poised and unassuming revitalization of infrastructure pace, he literally turn every nooks and crannies of the state into a beehive of construction site notably among them are the construction of Nkwo-Inyi-Akpugoeze-Nkwerre-Ufuma-to Anambra state border road, construction of the Ugwuoba-Nkwerre-Inyi road , construction of the Mpu and Ndeaboh road in Aninri and link road between Agbalenyi-Nachi and Enugu-Onitsha road in Oji river have all been undertaken, all in a bid to make the life of ndi Greater Awgu better. This is just to mention a few.
On security of lives and property in Greater Awgu, your strides are enormous and glaring ranging from being the first among your counterpart in the south east to bring to bare the much talked about community policing by setting up the Forest Guard and Neighbourhood Watch Commission. Beyond it attendant result of flushing out and reducing crime rates such as kidnapping in Greater Awgu. It has also lowered unemployment and provide skill development for the teaming youths.
This giant strides and investment in security have continued to justify the certified fact of “Enugu State as the safest and most peaceful state in Nigeria”. Thus having a direct bearing vis-à-vis Enugu State attractiveness as a destination site for both commercial and foreign direct investment opportunities need no emphasis.
More so, Governor Ugwuanyi a certified kind, compassionate and humane being who derives joy in putting smiles on his people and wiping away their tears which was empirical during the unfortunate death of eight pupils, driver and teacher of Presentation Nursery and Primary School, Awgu and prompt payment of medical bills of those who sustained different degrees of injuries. Ensuring rural growth and development which is the fulcrum of his administration, H.E pioneered and released millions of naira directly into the hand of the communities for communal self development and overall governance giving room for participatory democracy.
Furthermore, to give more bite and credence to his compassionate, welfarist nature he led the battle against COVID-19 from the front which aside curtailing it’s spread one of it’s attendant effect was the hunger strike. H.E took it upon himself that each household had enough to eat through the proper and equitable distribution of palliatives by the LGA chairmen of Greater Awgu. This saw to the distribution and off loading of trailer loads of food stuffs and grains on daily basis.
H.E knowing fully well the place of civil servants as the engine room in executing the plans and policies has continued to tap into the sector and maximize efficiency and productivity by deploying techniques such as staff training both locally and international and reward system. This is evident also through his initiation of the 13th month salary to every civil servants and offsetting age long retirement emolument and gratuity of the state pensioners. No wonder the widely acclaimed fact of the “Most Labour Friendly Governor in Nigeria”
On human capital development most especially the youth, Gov. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi is an ardent and passionate leader who believes that the youths are truly the future of Enugu State and Nigeria at large. He has continued to demonstrate his immense love for the youth by investing in them .This can be seen through the numerous empowerment, ICT and numerous appointment of Greater Awgu Youths into his cabinet as either commissioners, SSAs, SAs, TA and also the various youthful local government chairmen of Greater Awgu who so far have been performing at their various locals.
Indeed he is a great blessing to humanity. A man with an uncommon humility and leadership for all irrespective of your background, culture or colour .
Governor Ugwuanyi has indeed brought us a progressive peace.
Governor Ugwuanyi has brought us an integrated infrastructural development.
He has indeed brought us youth inclusiveness by engaging our youths in governance.
He has given us security.
Governor Ugwuanyi has brought us an improved Health care system.
He has also brought to bare humility in service delivery which is rare among leaders of today.
He has given leadership/governance a new and positive dimension by taking it back to the and rural dwellers.
Your Excellency, it is however for your present to us, your kind disposition to humanity, your firm and true believe of youth as the leaders of tomorrow, your abiding love of God and ndi Greater Awgu and her Youths as evident by the sum of your governance actions and strides that we are proud to offer today not just our most hearty congratulations and heartfelt wishes on your birthday celebration but most importantly for God’s continuous guidance, protection, wisdom and sound health upon you our leader, father, mentor and “Only Lion in Enugu State” even as you keep taking Greater Awgu and indeed Enugu State to the promise land.
