After three hundred and seventy days of closure, the people of Enugu State in particular and the people of Eastern extraction in general can now heave a sigh of relief as Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Aviation found it essential to reopen the Enugu Airport , yesterday, 30th of August, 2020.
Before we proceed with the commendation, it is proper for us to remember that the existence of an international airport in any society has a great socio-economic developmental impacts as it is bound to create a tangible number of employment opportunities coupled with the tourist implications associated with such establishment. Therefore, any effort put in place not just to restore the international status of Enugu Airport but to upgrade it to a standard level will never be regretted as the setup is bound to open up a window of abundant opportunities which shall be harvested with time.
Therefore, as we jubilate over the news, it is traditional for us to remember those that ensured that the project came to fruition and in that aspect we should acknowledge the painstaking and consistent efforts engineered by His Excellency, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the executive governor of ENUGU STATE in ensuring that the Federal Government approved the sum of ten billion naira in order to carry out the far-reaching project effectively. Gburu Gburu working closely with Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, representing Nkanu East/Nkanu West and doubles as the House Committee on Aviation to make sure that the project becomes a reality, no wonder the Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika applauded the duo profusely for their relentless quest. Today, the people have no option than to be grateful and appreciative.
ENUGU STATE IS IN THE HANDS OF GOD.
