One of the greatest men of all time, Nelson Mandela once declared that “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” and in due course I encountered another Chinese proverb which argues that “if you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate the people,” and my rendezvous with the people-oriented and development-driven leadership scaffolding of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi( MR FULFILMENT) of Enugu State has lent credence to such insinuation that the growth of any society is directly proportional to the development of education in the concerned society as I stand on the pulpit of the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB) to mirror the impacts made so far.
As we witness and celebrate the commencement of another phase of building and reconstruction of another two hundred modern classroom blocks which will be furnished and stuffed with strong plastic chairs, lockers, marker boards and other requisite facilities that would ensure and maintain standard education in the state, I quickly recall that the same government of Gburu Gburu through the same ENSUBEB chaired by the noble and pragmatic Hon.Chief Ikeji Asogwa had already built and reconstructed eight hundred classroom blocks within a defined timeframe before now. So, in addition to the ongoing project, the number of newly built and reconstructed classroom blocks by this administration would have clocked more than a thousand before the expiration of Ugwuanyi’s tenure as Enugu State Governor. To me such feat is not just a masterstroke but a novelty in the state educational development.
In inference, this platform also recollects that this governor which is now preferably referred to as Mr. Fulfillment is not restricting his education standardization policies to public primary and secondary secondary schools alone as all the state-run higher institutions keep experiencing the reverberations of the visionary echoes of the Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi-led Enugu state’s timely interventions in the sensitive education sector.
Nevertheless, for my respect for brevity, I wish to take a breath as the chosen leader of the good people of Enugu; Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi( Mr Fulfilment) keep responding to the yearnings of the people without complaining as it is our earnest hope that the agency; Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB) will continue to deliver in compliance with their mandate to provide standard and affordable education for the people.
